Vladimir Nazor House – Home of a Notable Croatian Writer in Bobovišća

The Vladimir Nazor House is one of the most significant cultural and historical landmarks in Bobovišća on the island of Brač. Located in the old part of the village, this stone family house is associated with the life of one of Croatia's most important writers, poets, and storytellers, whose work marked Croatian literature in the 20th century.

Vladimir Nazor was born in 1876 in Postira, but it was Bobovišća that left a strong mark on his life and literary work. He spent a significant part of his childhood and youth in the family house, and the nature, people, and landscapes of western Brač often found their way into his works. Many themes from his poems and stories were inspired by the Brač environment, which is why Bobovišća is often linked to the literary heritage of one of Croatia's greatest authors.

The traditional Brač architecture, stone walls, and authentic appearance of the house testify to the way of life of island families over the past centuries. The site is an important part of the cultural heritage of the village and represents an essential stop for those interested in Croatian literature, history, and culture.

The house can currently be viewed from the outside while walking through the old core of Bobovišća. Since it is not a typical museum with regular opening hours, the interior is not always open for individual tourist visits. In close proximity to the house is a monument to Vladimir Nazor, created by Croatian sculptor Mirko Ostoja. Together with the family house, it forms the most important memorial complex dedicated to the writer in Bobovišća and represents one of the most visited sites in the settlement.
