Beaches in Makarac Cove | A Tranquil Natural Oasis for Swimming West of Milna

Makarac Cove is located west of the center of Milna and is one of the quieter coves in this part of Brač Island. It is approximately one kilometer from the Milna waterfront, which is about a fifteen-minute leisurely walk or just a few minutes by car. Unlike urban beaches, Makarac is not a developed bathing area with many facilities, but a natural cove appreciated by those who value peace, clear waters, and a relaxed holiday.

The coastline of the cove consists of several smaller beaches and sunbathing spots that alternate between pebbly, rocky, and concrete areas near private houses and apartments. Due to the indented coastline, it is easy to find a private spot for swimming, even during the peak tourist season. Most of the shoreline has a gentle entry into the sea, making swimming comfortable for children, while some rocky areas are interesting for those who enjoy jumping into the water and diving.

The water in the cove is exceptionally clear and calm, with a rocky and pebbly bottom. Due to the good visibility, Makarac is an excellent place for snorkeling and exploring the underwater world, and thanks to the sheltered position of the cove, the sea is almost completely calm for most of the summer.

A pine forest grows along much of the coastline, providing natural shade during the day. As a result, many visitors stay here all day, as it is easy to find a resting spot without the need for an umbrella. Mediterranean vegetation and the scent of pine further emphasize the natural character of the cove.

Makarac Cove is not commercialized, so there are no large hotel complexes or numerous dining establishments directly on the beach. Many consider this to be its greatest advantage. If you need a restaurant, shop, or café, all facilities are located in the center of Milna, just a few minutes' drive or a pleasant walk away.

An asphalt road leads to the cove, and parking is available along the road at several widenings or in smaller public areas near the apartments. The number of parking spaces is limited, so it is advisable to arrive in the morning during July and August. Makarac can also be reached on foot from the center of Milna, with the walk taking approximately fifteen minutes.

Due to the calm waters, the cove is suitable for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and other small boats. It is not uncommon for owners of smaller boats to dock here seeking shelter from the wind or a quiet place for swimming.

The beaches in Makarac Cove are an ideal choice for those looking to escape the crowds of urban beaches and enjoy a natural setting. Crystal clear waters, pine shade, several smaller beaches, and a relaxed atmosphere make this cove one of the hidden swimming spots near Milna.
