Veli Zagradac Beach on Brač | Pebble Cove Beneath Vineyards and Pine Forests

Veli Zagradac Beach is situated on the southern side of Brač, between Murvica and Smrčeva Luka, in a small natural cove hidden beneath steep rocky slopes and terraces of old vineyards. Unlike some nearby southern coves that are mostly rocky, Veli Zagradac features a proper pebble area by the sea, making it much more suitable for longer swimming and beach stays.

The beach consists of fine and medium-sized pebbles, and the water is very clear and transparent, with the typical dark blue color of the southern side of Brač. The entry into the sea is gradual in the central part of the beach, while larger rocks and stone slabs are found along the edges of the cove. The seabed is mostly rocky, so many people come here with snorkeling gear.

A distinctive feature of Veli Zagradac is that the cove offers more natural shade than most beaches on the southern side of the island. Several larger pine trees grow along the beach, providing shade during the day, especially in the afternoon hours. Due to the combination of pebbles, shade, and clear water, many people consider this beach one of the more pleasant smaller coves between Bol and Smrčeva Luka.

The beach is accessed via an unpaved road that branches off from the southern road towards Smrčeva Luka and Vela Farska. Most of the approach is easier than it used to be, but the final part of the road remains unpaved and quite narrow in some sections. After parking, there is a short walk down to the cove.

Parking is not officially organized, and cars are left along the widened sections of the unpaved road above the beach. The number of spaces is limited, so during July and August, it can fill up quite early in the morning.

There are no beach bars, restaurants, or shops directly on the beach, which helps maintain the natural feel of the cove without significant tourist developments. The nearest restaurants are located in Smrčeva Luka, a few minutes' drive away.

The cove is quite sheltered from stronger winds, so the sea is often very calm. Due to its location beneath high slopes and pine forests, the temperature here can be somewhat more pleasant than on the more exposed beaches around Bol.

Veli Zagradac is best suited for those seeking a quieter pebble beach without loud music and extensive facilities, but still with a somewhat easier entry into the sea and more shade than typical southern beaches of Brač.
