Tičja Luka Beach – A Tranquil Cove with Turquoise Waters East of Povlja

Situated to the east of Povlja's center, Tičja Luka is one of the more serene coves along this part of Brač. Surrounded by pine trees and rocky slopes, the water here remains exceptionally clear and transparent, even during peak tourist season. Its location, away from the main part of the village, ensures a quieter experience compared to the busier beaches along the waterfront in Povlja.

The beach features a mix of pebbles, rocks, and natural stone plateaus. The entry into the water is generally gradual at the pebbly sections, while larger rocks along the cove's edges provide ideal spots for sunbathing and jumping into the sea. The water is deep and remarkably clean, making Tičja Luka a favored destination for swimmers and those interested in snorkeling along the coast.

Highlights of Tičja Luka include:

  • the stunning turquoise hue of the sea,
  • peace and tranquility throughout the day,
  • natural shade provided by the pine trees,
  • excellent conditions for swimming and snorkeling,
  • views of the open sea and the coastline around Povlja.

Access to the cove is via a narrow local road from Povlja, with the final stretch requiring a walk along the rocky terrain. While it is possible to drive relatively close to the beach, there is no large designated parking area right by the shore, so vehicles are typically left along the road or in small pull-offs above the cove.

Facilities at Tičja Luka are minimal, lacking a beach bar, restaurant, or extensive tourist infrastructure. Therefore, visitors are advised to bring:

  • sufficient water,
  • sun protection,
  • appropriate footwear for rocky terrain and entering the water.

This cove is particularly appealing to those seeking a quieter swimming experience away from the main tourist hotspots. In the mornings and late afternoons, the sea is often completely calm, and the reduced noise levels and natural surroundings allow many to linger for hours without feeling the need to visit other beaches.

Due to its clear underwater environment and rocky coastline, Tičja Luka is also a popular choice for:

  • free diving,
  • long-distance swimming,
  • coastal exploration by kayak or stand-up paddleboard.

Unlike the bustling urban beaches, Tičja Luka maintains a more natural appearance, free from loud music and heavy foot traffic.
