Soline Beach, Vrboska – Pebble Family Beach with Pine Shade and Facilities

Soline Beach is located about one kilometer east of the center of Vrboska, at the beginning of the green peninsula of Glavica. It is the main organized beach in Vrboska and one of the best choices in the area for families with children, as it combines easy access to the sea, natural shade from pine trees, showers, changing cabins, catering facilities, and ample parking nearby.

Unlike the rocky beaches that continue around Glavica, the central part of Soline features a spacious pebble shoreline and more accessible waters. Therefore, during the summer, one can expect more bathers here than at Paklena, Kamenjara, Balun, and other more natural swimming spots on the peninsula.

What is the Shore Like at Soline?

The main part of Soline is a pebble beach, with a mix of finer and coarser gravel.

At the edges of the cove, the shore transitions to rocks, natural flat stones, and some arranged concrete sunbathing areas. This allows for a choice between classic lounging on the pebbles and a quieter spot on the rocky sections.

Behind the beach, a pine forest grows almost the entire length, making the area appear greener and more pleasant than completely open beaches in Hvar.

What is the Seabed Like?

The seabed in front of the main part of the beach is not uniform.

Along the shore, pebbles and finer stones dominate, while further out, sandy and pebbly areas appear. These lighter parts of the seabed give the sea a beautiful turquoise color.

The entry is generally gradual and easy, without a sudden drop into deep water, which makes Soline particularly popular among families with small children.

At the rockier edges of the beach, water shoes can be useful, and sea urchins may appear in deeper areas.

One of the Better Beaches for Families with Children

Soline is more practical for a family day at the sea than most natural coves around Vrboska.

Children have a pebbly entry into the sea, enough shallow water for play, natural shade, and facilities just a few steps from the beach. It is also important for parents that parking is available very close to the shore.

During the peak season, a floating aquapark is set up in the cove, one of the most popular additional attractions for children and younger swimmers.

The aquapark is a seasonal feature and should not be expected to be set up year-round.

Aquapark and Sea Activities

During the summer season, Soline offers significantly more activities than most beaches in the vicinity.

In addition to the floating aquapark, various sea activities are available, which may include kayak and board rentals and other water facilities.

In the broader area of the beach, there are also volleyball courts and tennis courts near a nearby tourist complex.

Thus, Soline is more suitable for guests who want an active day by the sea than for those seeking a completely secluded cove.

Natural Shade from Pines

One of the greatest advantages of Soline is the amount of natural shade.

Pine trees grow immediately behind the beach, and their canopies shade a significant part of the area along the shore during the day. It is particularly pleasant at the back of the beach and on the rocky surfaces under the trees.

The closest pebbly area to the sea is more exposed to the sun, so the best shaded spots during July and August can be occupied early in the day.

Restaurant, Beach Bar, and Ice Cream

Unlike many natural beaches on Glavica, at Soline, it is not necessary to bring food and drinks for the entire day.

There are a restaurant and beach bar near the beach, and ice cream is available during the season.

This makes Soline very practical for a full day stay: it is possible to arrive in the morning, swim for several hours, have lunch nearby, and then continue the day at the beach.

Showers and Changing Cabins

The beach has a shower and changing cabin.

These are simple facilities, but they make a significant difference compared to the surrounding natural coves like Paklena, Kamenjara, or Balun, where such infrastructure does not exist.

For this reason, Soline is a good choice if comfort is more important than complete solitude.

How to Get to Soline?

From the center of Vrboska to Soline is approximately one kilometer.

By car, it takes about five minutes. The access is paved and straightforward, leading practically to the beach area and parking.

A pleasant walk is also possible. From Vrboska, one can walk along the sea towards the Glavica peninsula, and the walk takes about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the starting point and pace.

It is also possible to reach Soline by bicycle.

Parking by the Beach

Near Soline, there is a large organized parking area very close to the beach.

Parking is charged during the tourist season. Some areas are shaded by pines, so it is possible to find a spot in the shade.

Parking prices may vary from season to season, so it is not practical to list them as permanent information.

In July and August, parking can be quite full, but overall it is significantly more practical than parking at smaller coves around Vrboska.

If You Want Fewer People, Continue Around Glavica

Soline is very practical, but because of this, it is among the more visited beaches in Vrboska.

If it becomes too lively during the summer, it is enough to continue walking along the paths through the pine forest. In just a few minutes, you can reach more natural parts of the coast and smaller beaches.

On the southern side of the peninsula are Paklena, Kamenjara, and Balun, and further east are rocky swimming spots with much less infrastructure and fewer people.

Therefore, Soline is a good starting point even if you ultimately decide to find a quieter place.

Exposure to Wind

The Soline cove is more open to the north and northeast.

In calm weather, the sea is very pleasant and sheltered enough for family swimming, but in stronger northern winds and bora, it can become choppy.

If strong bora winds are blowing, more sheltered coves on the southern side of the Glavica peninsula may provide calmer conditions.

Who is Soline Best For?

Soline is primarily a beach for guests who value convenience.

Families with children benefit from easy access to the sea, shade, showers, entertainment facilities, and parking close to the beach. Older swimmers will also find it easier to use than rocky coves that require walking along natural paths.

If you are looking for complete silence, a wild coastline, and solitude, it is better to continue further around the peninsula. If you want to spend the whole day by the sea without worrying about where to park, have lunch, or find shade, Soline is among the best choices in Vrboska.
