BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Pag is a town on the island of the same name, in Zadar County. Pag is connected by bus lines throughout the year to: Novalja, Zadar, Split, Zagreb, Senj and Rijeka. You can reach the town of Pag by bus from two directions; via the Pag Bridge or via the Prizna – Žigljen ferry line. The bus station is located in the immediate vicinity of the town center of Pag on the former ferry pier. It is connected to other places on the island by local lines, and the nearest airport is in Zadar, 50 km away.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Pag was first mentioned in documents from the 10th century. In the 13th century, the Croatian-Hungarian King Bela IV, fleeing from his enemies, found refuge on Pag. After returning to the throne, he granted Pag the Charter of a Free Royal City. Today, the city of Pag consists of 11 settlements with a population of 3,846. The city is home to the 15th-century Collegiate Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the 15th-century Benedictine Monastery of St. Margaret, and numerous churches and chapels. Also visit the 10th-century saltworks, the Katine city bridge, the 15th-century Rector's Palace, the old town of Pag, located a kilometer south, the salt warehouses, the 15th-century Skrivanat tower, and the 17th-century Fortica.
BEACHES
Zrće Beach is located on the western side of Pag Bay. It is extremely entertaining for visitors looking for all-day fun. There are numerous beaches in the Bašac and Vodice areas. The city beach Prosika is the central beach and is particularly suitable for swimming and sunbathing for families with small children.
OTHER CONTENT
The gastronomic offer is rich and it would be a shame to go and not try Pag lamb, cheese, olive oil and good wine. All this is offered by the taverns Bile, Barkarola and Bodulo and the restaurants Na Katrine, Na Tale, Diogen, Villa Olea and Trattoria Padre. During the season, various events are organized that will complement your vacation, such as plays, concerts, festivals, exhibitions and more.
SPORT
There are many opportunities to engage in various sports during your vacation. The island is crisscrossed with cycling paths, there are 4 climbing rocks nearby, diving schools, boat or jet ski rentals, windsurfing, fishing, and football, basketball and volleyball courts.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
Zadar County, including Pag, is located near the national parks Plitvice Lakes, Northern Velebit, Kornati, Paklenica and Krka, as well as the nature parks Vrana Lake and Velebit. Also nearby are Zadar, Nin, Biograd and Šibenik with their rich cultural heritage.
ACCOMMODATION
Pag offers accommodation to its guests in private houses, apartments, rooms and numerous hotels (Intermezzo, Pagus, Tony, Belveder, Biser, Frane, Meridijan and Plaža). In the town of Šimuni there is an ACI marina and camp of the same name. The marina has 191 berths in the sea and 45 dry berths on land.
