BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Stara Novalja is a settlement on the northern part of the island of Pag, part of the town of Novalja. It is located 5 km north of Novalja. The economy is based on tourism, sheep farming, fishing and viticulture. It is home to the old ferry port Drljanda, where the sea depth reaches 38 meters. Small boats and yachts with a shallow draft are moored inside the bay. Stara Novalja is located on the M29 road. Since the ferry port was moved to Žigljen (except in some exceptional weather conditions), Stara Novalja has become a quiet place that offers accommodation in private houses, as well as accommodation and boarding services.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

It is known for the remains of an ancient aqueduct, its rich underwater life, and amphorae. Nearby are the remains of ancient walls, a late antique necropolis, and the ruins of the pre-Romanesque church of the Holy Cross. The main event is the feast of Saints Peter and Paul (June 29). The town is home to the beautiful Byzantine fortress of Svetojan from the 6th century, and the churches of the Holy Cross and Saint Mary.

BEACHES

The largest beach in the Stara Novalja bay is the sandy Trinćel beach. There are small sandy beaches along the entire bay. Trinćel beach boasts a blue flag and attracts many tourists because of its cleanliness, beauty and equipment with various facilities for children and various sports.

Stara Novalja is famous for its gastronomic specialties, lamb, fish, Pag cheese and good wine.
