BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Tkon is a municipality and settlement on the island of Pašman, in Zadar County. The municipality of Tkon is an island-Adriatic municipality by its location and nature, and covers an area of 15 km2. Its wealth is natural resources (unspoiled nature, clean sea and interesting underwater world, sandy beaches, indented coastline) and a rich history and heritage. Tkon is connected to the mainland, to Biograd, by ferry. The A1 motorway is within easy reach of Biograd, as is the Zemunik airport in Zadar.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
The first name of Tkon: 950 AD is Katan. The Byzantine emperor Constantine Porphyrogenitus in his work "De Administrando imperio" - 1067.g. mentions it under the name Katun. The settlements of Tkon and Ugrinić were typical island fishing towns in the past. Today, Tkon has numerous religious buildings such as the Benedictine monastery and the church of St. Cosmas and Damian on the hill of Ćokovac (12th century), the parish church of St. Thomas the Apostle (12th century), the church of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows on the hill of Kalvarija (18th century), the church of St. Anthony the Hermit (17th century) and the remains of the church of St. Pope Alexander (archaeological research in progress). There are also underwater archaeological sites near the islet of Gnalić (remains of a 16th century galley with valuable finds), Pustograd (6th century) on the hill above the Zaklopica bay, Veliki tor or Ugrinić dvori (16th century) and numerous others.
BEACHES
The beaches in Tkon are sandy and shallow, and popular with visitors from Biograd who come by ferry every day for swimming and diving. Between Tkon and Ugrinić there are seven sandy bays in just 3 km. The town has the beaches Tkon and Mrviska, and the public beaches are Vruljica, Južnja and Ugrinić beach.
OTHER CONTENT
The sea has been feeding this area with fish and shellfish for centuries, and the land complements it with delicious snacks such as rabbit or pheasant goulash and sweetens it with old fig and almond cakes, accompanied by a quality glass of local wine. All of this is offered by the restaurants Melo, Trta Mrta, Leut and Pinkovac taverns. The municipality of Tkon offers various events throughout the year: from the Kunj Carnival in February, Škraping and the Island Products Fair in March to the Kunjski lita, which abounds in traditional events such as the Regatta of Old Wooden Latin-sailed Ships, Fisherman's Night, a meeting of Church Folk Singers who cherish the tradition of old Glagolitic church singing, to the Island Products Fair.
SPORT
In Tkon you can engage in a number of sporting activities: rock climbing, trekking, cycling, windsurfing, diving... You can rent boats, sailboats and jet skis and explore the surrounding islands.

You can also enrich your stay with an excursion arranged by local agencies. Tkon has a daily boat line with Biograd, and Biograd is near Zadar and Šibenik, cities rich in cultural and historical heritage. Nearby are the national parks Kornati, Krka and Plitvice Lakes, as well as the nature parks Vrana Lake, Velebit and Telaščica.
