BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Kali, the largest town on the island of Ugljan and the municipality of the same name, is squeezed between two ports in the northeast and the Lamjana bay in the southwest. The municipality of Kali is located on the southern part of the island of Ugljan in Zadar County. It is about 5 km from Zadar - the administrative center of the county and is connected by the ferry port of Preko. The nearest airport is Zadar.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

The settlement was first mentioned in a document from 1299, but the continuity of life in the Kalije area has existed since prehistoric times and antiquity (archaeological finds on the Orjak hill above Kalije). Today's settlement was founded on a hill above the local port of Mul, oriented towards Zadar and the Zadar Channel. In the immediate vicinity of the old town there is the parish church of St. Lawrence from the 15th century, and the more distant chapel of St. Pelegrino was built in the 14th century. The bell tower of the Baroque church of St. Lawrence, the patron saint of the town, stands out in the town. In the hinterland there is the Venetian fortress of St. Michael, from which a beautiful panorama opens.

BEACHES

The famous "gold" beaches in hidden coves, surrounded by blue on one side and greenery on the other, will lull visitors into a perfect summer watercolor. Hidden coves, sandy and rocky beaches, crystal clear sea, as well as the beach in the center of the town, allow you to find your much-needed peace in one of them.

Numerous events that exude tradition, starting from the church celebration of St. Lawrence to the Fisherman's Nights and many dance evenings, will remain in your memory as unforgettable entertainment events. Kali is the host of one of the oldest fishing festivals on the Adriatic - Tunuare. Among the numerous events, the most interesting is the parade of boats through the Zadar canal, and it is even more interesting if you watch it from the shore with delicious bites of traditional Kualjska brudet or tuna prepared in a hundred ways. Numerous traditional folk festivals, among which the most important is the Fisherman's Night, exhibitions, concerts, various cultural and entertainment events, open-air concerts with famous performers, are just part of the fun that Kali offers you.

SPORT

Kali offers numerous opportunities for sports activities: football, basketball, bocce, cycling, diving, and many others... The offer of entertainment at sea is particularly attractive, from various games to speedboat and scooter rides, skiing, surfing or paragliding. The hilly but gentle terrain with numerous trails is extremely suitable for both walking and cycling.
