BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Jezera, a place of sailors, fishermen and divers, is located on the southeastern side of the island of Murter. Jezera is tucked into a horseshoe-shaped bay surrounded by gentle hills. Due to its natural position, the town is not exposed to strong winds, so its bay is ideal as a port and a habitat for ships. The town has a population of 960. At the entrance to the bay (harbor), there are two local swimming areas and a promenade. The name Jezera comes from the fact that rainwater stops on a piece of impermeable soil, creating large puddles. Blato or Jezero, in ancient times a marshy land southwest of the town itself, was mostly drained due to malaria at the beginning of the 20th century, while another body of water called Lokva is full of water from the first to the last rainy periods.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
The first written records about Jezera date back to 1298. However, the town is much older. On the Murtarić peninsula, near the present town, we find traces of an Illyrian settlement from the 11th century BC. Not far from the town itself, in the Podjasenovac bay, in 1938, two graves of the Illyrian tribe of Liburni were found in one mound. There are many similar mounds in the area around the town. Of particular note is a large mound resembling a truncated cone, to the top of which one climbs in a spiral. The locals call it "Pudarica" because in ancient times, field workers, or pudari, used to guard the fields on it. Jezera has had its own parish since 1602. The parish church of Our Lady of Health was built with beautiful blocks of stone from the local quarry in 1722 on the site of an older church. Next to the church on the eastern side, a 32 m high bell tower stands out. It is also the oldest bell tower on the island of Murter. The church has a single nave with a main chapel and two side chapels. It has seven altars and two balconies and is a beautiful example of Mediterranean Baroque. Other churches in the Jezera area: the Church of St. Roko in the Field from the 16th century, the Church of St. John from the 17th century and the Church of St. Nicholas - Murtar Bay, from the Church of St. Konstancija there is a beautiful viewpoint that guests adore.
BEACHES
Jezera has two city beaches: Kučina Beach and Zaratić Beach (pebble). The large beach is located in the Jezera Village Tourist Resort - one of the most popular and most visited campsites in Dalmatia. The beach is pebble. The town of Jezera is known for its many beautiful bays - natural beaches that tourists visit in large numbers in the summer.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
The lakes are a tourist center. Fishing excursion boats depart from the lake's bay to the nearby islands, the Kornati Islands and the Krka Waterfalls, with fun, good fish and wine. It is also possible to rent smaller boats and enjoy a tour of the islets and bays. The islet of Kukuljar Vodeni is particularly interesting, with a small cave by the sea in which the water is drinkable at low tide and brackish (salty) at high tide. The islet is associated with the story of the graves of sea robbers from southern Italy, who in the past suddenly attacked, robbed and killed the population of our islands and coast. The inhabitants of the island of Murter attacked them in an organized manner near the Kornati Islands, killed the pirates and set fire to their galley. Several bodies swam to Kukuljar Vodeni where they were buried by the lake's fishermen, as evidenced by several irregular stone blocks. Historians believe that this happened at the end of the 16th century.
ACCOMMODATION
There is a wide range of accommodation in Jezeri: apartments, holiday homes with swimming pools, campsites. The lakes also have a harbor where boats can be moored. The campsites in the Jezera area are: Jezera Village, More and Stella Maris.
