Igrane is a tourist resort on the Makarska Riviera, in the municipality of Podgora. The settlement of 480 inhabitants slopes down towards the sea, the port and a long pebble beach. Igrane is located on the state road D8 - Adriatic Highway, 19 kilometers south of Makarska. Igrane can be reached via Split, which you can reach by plane, train or boat, and of course by car from various directions. Near Makarska, you can also connect to the A1 motorway near Šestanovac.

CULTURE; HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

Igrane was first mentioned under this name in 1466. The history of this small town dates back to Roman times, as evidenced by the sarcophagi found. Igrane is also known for its ancient olive groves above the town. The old settlement of Gornje Igrane is located across Biokovo, on the northern side. Today, the population, in addition to olive growing and fishing, is increasingly turning to tourism. In the town, visit the parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the church of St. Michael, the church of the Immaculate Conception, the chapels of Our Lady Help of Christians and the Holy Trinity, the Zala Tower, which served as a defense against the Turks, and the Baroque summer mansion of Šimić-Ivanišević et al.

BEACHES

Along the village there is a beautiful beach with a pine forest that provides natural shade and is suitable for family vacations and the elderly. The beach extends towards Živogošće and has a well-maintained promenade.

OTHER CONTENT

Gastronomic delights can be found at the Dado restaurant, the Tri Volta tavern, the Portina and Stari Ribar taverns, and the Excalibur snack bar. During the season, numerous cultural events are organized, such as folklore evenings, klapa concerts, plays, and fishermen's evenings, and for nightlife, Makarska is nearby.

SPORT

In addition to diving and other water sports, you can also cycle, play mini golf, and hike.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES

Excursions are organized to Split, Dubrovnik, Makarska, Međugorje and Mostar, the Biokovo Nature Park, the Plitvice Lakes and Krka National Parks. Tourist boats sail to Brač and Hvar.

Igrane is today a well-known tourist destination with a large number of accommodation units, which you can find at the Punta Hotel, located right on the sandy beach, at the Dole Campsite, or in private holiday homes or apartments.
