BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Pisak is an old fishing village located between Omiš and Makarska on the slopes of Omiš Dinara near Biokovo. It is 20 kilometers from Omiš and the same distance from Makarska. It is 40 kilometers from Split, where the nearest airport is Resnik. It is located in a bay, surrounded by beautiful beaches. According to the last census, the town has 202 inhabitants, and the population is mainly engaged in tourism. Pisak can be reached from Split by the Adriatic Highway (D8) or from Zagreb and Rijeka by the A1 highway to Šestanovac, where the exit for Makarska is.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Pisak was founded in 1500. Throughout its history, it was primarily a fishing and agricultural village. It was once the most important fishing port on the Omiš Riviera. In the 19th century, a protected fishing port was built, which gave an even greater incentive for fishing. Today, there is a small port for the local population. The town is dominated by the church of St. Mark, in the middle of old Dalmatian houses.
BEACHES
Beautiful pebble beaches stretch out on both sides of the small harbor of Pisak Bay. A little further away, there are small coves and rocky beaches that can only be reached by boat. Nearby, between Pisak and Brela, there is Vrulja Beach, in the bay of the same name, and it is attractive because of its numerous freshwater springs and isolated beaches. It can also only be reached by boat.
OTHER CONTENT
Konobe Leut and Villa Porat offer local specialties and are located in the harbor, not far from the sea. There is a shop and a small market in the village. The place is ideal for a family vacation, and nightlife is nearby, in Omiš or Makarska.
SPORT
Sports and active vacation enthusiasts can try diving and windsurfing. Hiking and mountaineering enthusiasts can enjoy the trails of Omiška Dinara.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
From the surrounding Mimice there are organized boat trips to the neighboring islands of Brač and Hvar. From the town you can reach Split, Makarska, Trogir, Salona, Šibenik and the Krka National Park, as well as the Biokovo Nature Park, by buses that regularly connect all places on the Adriatic Highway, or by car.
