BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATIONTribunj is a picturesque Dalmatian town located in the center of Šibenik-Knin County. The town is divided into an urban mainland part and a peninsular historical core within which there is a local administration, post office, parish office and several catering facilities. It also includes the village of Sovlje, and the view extends to the islands of Lukovnjak and Logorun, as well as Prišnjak and Sovljak. Tribunj is today known for its fishing, olive growing and increasingly for its tourism. According to the last census, it has 1526 inhabitants. It is 18 kilometers away from Šibenik and is located on the state road D8, and the nearest airports are Split and Zadar.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Tribunj was first mentioned in 1463 under the name Tribohunj. The old town was located on a hill with the peak of Sveti Mikula. There was a medieval fortress Jurjevgrad with a settlement of the same name at the foot. The present town was built on an islet that was later connected to the mainland by a stone bridge. The name Trebunj or Trebić comes from the autumn sun god of the pagan Croats. In addition to the remains of the church of St. Nicholas, there is also the church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 15th century, the church of St. Mary from the 16th century - today's Cultural Center, and the church of the Assumption from the 19th century.
BEACHES
Along Tribunj there are pebble beaches with a combination of concrete and rocks. These are Bristak, Zamalin, Movie Resort, Sovlja and the beach near the Luna restaurant.
OTHER CONTENT
You can find local delicacies and quality wine and olive oil in the restaurants Luna, Toble, Plavi val, Pink Keel, Deep blue sea Ltd, as well as in the taverns Bepo, Šimun, Lanterna, Ante, Sagena, Markiolac, Tić and in the pizzeria Šuština. Various folk festivals and fishermen's evenings are held during the season. The donkey race attracts a large number of visitors, as do numerous concerts by local klapa groups, tamburitza players and mandolin groups. You can complete your nightlife in nearby Vodice or Šibenik.
SPORT
Besides diving and other sea fun, you can cycle, play volleyball or football, go for long walks, etc. In early October, if you find yourself in Tribunj, you can participate in the 3bunj Trail.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
A very favorable location in the center of northern Dalmatia allows for excursions to various locations such as visits to Šibenik, Zadar, Trogir or Split, the national parks Kornati, Krka, Paklenica or Plitvice Lakes, the canyons of the Zrmanja or Cetina rivers where you can try your hand at rafting or canyoning.
