Postira Summer | Summer Events, Concerts, and Fishing Evenings in Postira

Postira Summer

Postira Summer is the main program of summer events in Postira, taking place from June to early September. Throughout most of the summer, concerts, fishing evenings, klapa performances, film screenings, children's programs, sports events, and local festivals are organized in the town center. The majority of the activities occur along the waterfront and the main square by the sea, where both locals and tourists gather in the evenings.

Unlike large coastal festivals, Postira Summer retains a distinctly local character. The evenings are generally relaxed, without large stages and mass concerts, focusing more on the Dalmatian atmosphere, live music, and events by the sea. During July and August, several different programs are held almost every week, making the town center much livelier in the evenings than during the day.

Among the most notable events of Postira Summer, the following stand out:

  • fishing evenings featuring sardines, squid, and live music by the waterfront
  • concerts by Dalmatian klapas and smaller bands
  • the feast of St. John the Baptist around June 24, the patron saint of the town
  • the celebration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16 with a procession and evening program
  • the celebration of the Assumption of Mary on August 15
  • film screenings and cultural programs in the open air
  • sports events and summer tournaments by the sea

Fishing evenings are particularly popular when the entire waterfront transforms into a large open terrace by the sea. During these evenings, restaurants and local associations prepare simple Dalmatian dishes, while klapas and bands perform late into the night. It can be difficult to find a free spot along the waterfront without arriving early.

Part of the cultural program includes classical music concerts, smaller exhibitions, and performances held in the old town center or in front of the church. Workshops, performances, and outdoor cinema are organized for children during the main part of the season.

The program changes partially each year, and the current events and schedule are best followed through the official pages and social media of the Postira Tourist Board.
