Postira Summer | Summer Events, Concerts and Fishing Evenings in Postira

Postira Summer

Postira Summer is the main programme of summer events in Postira, running from June to early September. Throughout much of the summer, the town centre hosts concerts, fishing evenings, klapa performances, film screenings, children's programmes, sports events, and local festivals. Most activities take place along the waterfront and the main square, where both locals and tourists gather in the evenings.

Unlike larger coastal festivals, Postira Summer has retained a distinctly local character. The evenings are generally relaxed, without large stages or mass concerts, focusing instead on the Dalmatian atmosphere, live music, and events by the sea. During July and August, several different programmes occur almost every week, making the town centre much livelier in the evenings than during the day.

Among the most notable events of Postira Summer are:

  • fishing evenings featuring sardines, squid, and live music along the waterfront
  • concerts by Dalmatian klapas and smaller bands
  • the feast of St. John the Baptist around 24 June, the town's patron saint
  • the celebration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on 16 July, including a procession and evening programme
  • the celebration of the Assumption on 15 August
  • film screenings and cultural programmes outdoors
  • sports events and summer tournaments by the sea

Fishing evenings are particularly popular, transforming the entire waterfront into a large open terrace by the sea. During these events, restaurants and local associations prepare simple Dalmatian dishes, while klapas and bands perform late into the night. It can be quite challenging to find a free spot along the waterfront without arriving early.

Part of the cultural programme includes classical music concerts, smaller exhibitions, and performances held in the old town centre or in front of the church. Workshops, shows, and outdoor cinema are organised for children during the peak season.

The programme changes partially each year, and it is best to follow the current events and schedule through the official pages and social media of the Postira Tourist Board.
