Beach-bay Vela luka is located at the western end of the town of Supetar, towards the village of Mirca. The beach consists of two bays, Vela Luka and Mala Luka. Local residents also call the bay Pliva, because this used to be a resort of Zagreb's Pliva factory for years. The seabed of the bay is sandy, which makes it especially suitable for children and ball games in the sea. Nowadays, instead of the old resort, there is a modern hotel near the beach. The beach visitors have many facilities at their disposal, and can play table tennis, petanque or basketball. They can also rent deck chairs and parasols. When it comes to food service, there is a fast food restaurant and a bar there. There used to be a dense pine forest near this beach, but it is sparse today. A part of the beach is a concrete plateau, the middle part is made of pebble, while on the other side of the bay the beach is rocky.Along the beach there is a promenade leading towards three beaches of Supetar (Vela Luka, Bili rat, Tri mosta, Banj and Vlacica) and to the town centre.
