Uvati vitar – The Most Recognized Cycling Race in Sutivan
Uvati vitar is one of the most notable sporting events on the island of Brač and a reason why Sutivan has become well-known among mountain biking enthusiasts. This popular MTB race gathers hundreds of recreational cyclists and competitors from Croatia and abroad each year, who come to test their skills on the challenging yet highly attractive trails of Brač.
The event is traditionally held in spring, usually in May, when pleasant temperatures and blooming nature provide ideal conditions for cycling. The start and finish of the race are located in Sutivan, while the trails pass through olive groves, pine forests, gravel paths, and picturesque landscapes of the interior of Brač.
Over the years, Uvati vitar has grown from a local sporting event into one of the most recognized MTB races in Dalmatia. Various categories and trail lengths are available for competitors, allowing both experienced cyclists and recreational riders seeking to experience Brač in a different way to participate. Organizers regularly prepare several routes of varying difficulty to make the race accessible to as many participants as possible.

Participants ride past traditional dry stone walls, centuries-old olive groves, hidden gravel paths, and numerous viewpoints offering views of the Brač Channel, Split, and neighboring islands. For this reason, many participants emphasize that Uvati vitar is as much a tourist experience as it is a sports competition.
