BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Okrug Donji is a small village on the western side of the island of Čiovo, southwest of Trogir and west of Okrug Gornji. It is 5 km from Okrug Gornji and 8 km from Trogir.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
In Okrug Donji there is a chapel of St. John the Baptist. No one knows the exact year of its construction, but it was first mentioned in the 17th century. The chapel contains a small altar and a statue of St. John the Baptist.
BEACHES
Okrug Donji is a quiet place, without big crowds, with rocky, pebble and concrete beaches.
OTHER CONTENT
The village has several bars, restaurants and taverns with a rich selection of local specialties. Unforgettable events during the season are the fishermen's evenings which are held several times in the summer. We recommend the restaurants Mateja and Didina dika.
SPORT
The village with its location is very suitable for diving and windsurfing. Of course you can always cycle and hike and explore the island and other places.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
There are many excursion options from Trogir and Split. From Trogir there is a ferry to Drvenik Veli and Mali, and from Split there are several daily trips to the Dalmatian islands of Hvar, Brač, Šolta and Vis. Nearby agencies can organize one-day excursions to the Krka and Plitvice Lakes national parks, to the Biokovo nature park, the Cetina and Omiš river canyons, Međugorje...
