BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Sveta Nedjelja is a village on the island of Hvar, in the Split-Dalmatia County. It is located on the southern side of the island of Hvar, and administratively belongs to the town of Hvar, from which it is 12 km away. About 3 km in front of the coast of the village are the Lukavci cliffs, two low islands with a lighthouse. The village is located under St. Nicholas, the largest peak of the island. Thanks to the ideal location and climatic conditions, grapevines thrive on the slopes. The best Hvar red wines are made in Sveta Nedjelja. The village has 136 permanent residents who are involved in viticulture, olive growing and tourism. Sveta Nedjelja can be reached via Hvar or Stari Grad from the center of Dalmatia, Split.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

Inside the cave mentioned above, which was inhabited in the Neolithic period, there was a small Augustinian monastery in the Renaissance until 1787. Today, only a small church remains of it. The patron saint of Sveta Nedjelja is Gospa od Centura (Our Lady of the Holy Pasca), whom the locals worship and celebrate every August 28th, and whose statue is in the local church. On St. Augustine's Day, a procession is held around the village, and on Gospa od Centura there is also a festival on the local square. The parish church is dedicated to St. Spyridon.

BEACHES

Below the town is the pebble beach Pataršćica, and in the surrounding area there are numerous pebble beaches and secluded coves.

There are several restaurants and shops in the town. We recommend the restaurants Tamaris, Bilo Idro and Kolumbić where you can taste Dalmatian specialties and the best wines of Hvar. Those looking for nightlife will have to go to the town of Hvar.

SPORT

In the immediate vicinity there are well-maintained free climbing routes that are visited by enthusiasts of this sport from all over the world. You can play five-a-side football, bocce, and children have access to an adapted playground, swimming pool, beach and swimming area.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES

The entire island offers daily excursion possibilities, and from Hvar or Stari Grad you can head to Split or rent a boat to the neighboring islands. From Split you can go to Makarska, Omiš and the Cetina River Canyon, Dubrovnik, Međugorje, Šibenik, national parks and nature parks nearby.

Camp Lili (Jagodna) is located in Sveta Nedjelja. You can find accommodation in numerous private apartments and holiday homes. The settlement also has a small port for boats up to 30 meters.
