Milna Beach, Vrboska – a small tranquil cove with natural shade and clear water

Milna Beach is located between Vrboska and Jelsa, about 1.5 kilometers from the center of Vrboska.

This is not a large developed beach nor a place to visit for amenities. Milna is a small natural cove for those seeking a quieter swimming experience, clear water, and plenty of shade under the pines. Due to the limited space along the shore, it is best to visit earlier in the day or outside of the peak summer crowds.

Small natural shoreline

Milna does not have a wide pebble beach like Soline.

The shoreline is small and natural, featuring a combination of rocks, stones, and a few more accessible spots for entering the water. Some bathers settle right by the water, while others find shade under the pines above the shore.

Because of its small size, Milna retains a more intimate character and resembles a hidden cove rather than a typical tourist beach.

Water and seabed

The water in Milna is very clear, and in the central part of the cove, the seabed becomes lighter and finer compared to the rocky edges.

There are stones and rocks along the shore and on the sides, while softer and lighter parts of the seabed appear towards the middle of the cove. As a result, the water takes on beautiful green-blue and turquoise shades on sunny days.

Entry into the water is most pleasant through the more accessible central part. Water shoes are advisable at the edges of the cove due to the stones and uneven rocks.

Plenty of natural shade

One of the greatest advantages of Milna is the shade.

Pines grow right above the shore, providing ample natural protection from the sun, which is particularly pleasant during the hottest hours in July and August.

If you wish to be right by the water, part of the shore remains exposed to the sun, but just a few meters away, it is easy to find a spot among the pines.

This makes Milna more comfortable for longer stays compared to many completely open rocky bathing areas around Vrboska.

A quieter alternative to Soline

Milna is a good choice if Soline feels too developed or crowded.

There is no water park, large parking lot, beach bar, or organized sunbeds here. Visitors come primarily for the sea and tranquility.

As a result, the atmosphere remains much more natural, especially in the morning and evening.

How to get to Milna Beach?

From the center of Vrboska to Milna is approximately 1.5 kilometers.

By car, take the road towards Jelsa, then descend from the main road towards the coast. The final access is short and easy for pedestrians.

Milna can also be reached on foot from Vrboska, but expect about 20 to 30 minutes of walking, depending on your starting point and pace.

Bicycles are also a practical option.

Parking

Milna does not have a large organized public parking area.

There is limited space for vehicles near the beach access, but the number of spots is not large. During peak season, it may be difficult to find a free spot right by the access.

If you are coming by car, it is important to leave enough space for other vehicles to pass and not to use private driveways of nearby houses as parking.

No tourist infrastructure

There are no beach bars, restaurants, showers, public toilets, or organized rentals of sunbeds and umbrellas at the beach.

For a longer stay, it is advisable to bring water, food, and everything you need for a day by the sea.

A larger selection of shops, cafes, and restaurants can be found in Vrboska and Jelsa.

Is Milna suitable for children?

Milna can be pleasant for families who do not require much infrastructure.

The water in the central part of the cove is accessible for swimming, and the natural shade is a significant advantage. However, the shoreline is not wide or completely flat, so for very small children, there are more practical beaches.

If easy pebble entry, toilets, restaurants, and additional amenities are important to you, Soline is a better choice. If you prefer a smaller and quieter cove, Milna has more charm.

Who is Milna best suited for?

Milna is best suited for guests who enjoy small natural bathing spots without many amenities.

It is close enough to Vrboska to reach easily by car, bicycle, or on foot, yet sufficiently secluded to provide a quieter atmosphere than the main city beaches.

Clear water, pine shade, and a small cove are the main reasons to stop here.
