BASIC INFORMATION

The picturesque village of Žrnovo is located on the island of Korčula, only 4 kilometers away from the town of Korčula by paved road. It belongs to the southernmost Croatian county of Dubrovnik-Neretva. Žrnovo consists of several hamlets, and there are various ways to get to Žrnovo: by ferry to Korčula, 4 km away, and then continue along the aforementioned road, there are lines from the Pelješac peninsula, from Spit, Dubrovnik, etc. By bus (several times a week lines with Zagreb, daily with Dubrovnik), and the nearest airports are Dubrovnik and Split.

CULTURE

Žrnovo is one of the oldest settlements on the island, it was inhabited in the Illyrian and Roman era, over time Žrnovo has become a real small tourist town known for its beautiful landscape and picturesque scenes. There are numerous sights and cultural heritage that you can see in this area, we will mention some: the parish church of St. Martin, in the hamlet of Postrani - the church of St. Roko, in the hamlet of Prvo Selo - the church of St. Michael and the Kočje Nature Park.

BEACHES

There are many beautiful beaches on the island of Korčula, and in Žrnovo itself, we would like to mention Orlanduša beach, which is ideal for those who like solitude, given that there are not too many swimmers there, while Bratinja beach, for example, is perfect for adventurers and is located in a bay surrounded by pine forests.

OTHER CONTENT

Žrnovo is also known as a place of stonemasons and folklore, so in addition to beautiful scenery, you will also be greeted by various artistic and cultural programs that are held in the summer months, folklore groups often perform, and "Moštra" (a sword battle dance) is performed. The gastronomic offer is diverse, we will single out the Belin tavern and the Maha tavern. You can also relax by drinking your favorite drinks in some of the bars and cafes in the village, for a slightly larger selection you can visit Korčula, only 4 km away.

SPORT

Activities on the water are one of the options for recreation, Žrnovska Banja is known as a favorite destination of sailors and is located 2 km north of Žrnov. The whole of Žrnovo is also suitable for pedestrians who like to enjoy the view and beautiful nature.

SIGHTSEEING, EXCURSIONS

In addition to sightseeing in this area, we also recommend that you go on one of the organized excursions, for example daily sailing trips from the town of Korčula to Mljet, Lastovo, Hvar or Vis.
