CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
The first civilization appeared in Njivice in ancient times, and this is confirmed by archaeological findings in the Poje area, where the remains of a villa rustica from the 2nd or 3rd century were found. About 6 kilometers from Njivice, the remains of an old ancient city from the 4th or 5th century – Fulfinum were also found. The nearby Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 9th century, which contains a pre-Romanesque pluteus, is another confirmation of the settlement of Njivice in earlier periods. Njivice is first mentioned in historical sources in the deed of gift of Prince Ivan Frankopan from 1474. In a later period, around 1710, the settlement of Villa di sasso bianco or Beli Kamik will be mentioned, which is today the toponym and name of the nearby hotel. The beginning of tourism in the settlement occurred during the 19th century, and it is interesting that in 1930 the then Hotel Luka (today's Jadran) and Villa Dinka were built. Most other cultural attractions are located in Omišalj, which is only 6 kilometers away from Njivice.
