The church was erected before 1500. Visitor Prioli in 1603 lists it as the church of St. Mary ad Presepe. It was a simple, one-nave structure lined with a barrel vault with the profile of a broken Gothic arch. The recent radical alteration of the church has changed that part. After World War I, the church was abandoned and served as a stable. In 1927, the church was restored by the Marjan Society. The altar is the work of a local master from 1500 when the influences of the Renaissance and Gothic intersect.
