BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Tučepi is a town and municipality in Split-Dalmatia County, on the Makarska Riviera. It is located at the foot of the Biokovo mountain, along the Adriatic Sea. According to the last census, it has a population of 1,931. It is 5.5 kilometers from Makarska, and Resnik Airport in Split is 80 kilometers away. Tučepi can be reached via the A1 motorway to Šestanovac or the Adriatic Highway (D8) from Split.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

The name Tučepi comes from an Illyrian word that translates to "place by the spring". Today's Tučepi developed in the 1960s when the construction of houses began in the hamlet of Kraj on the coast. Tučepi was first mentioned in the Kreševo Charter of 1434. Near the Neptun Hotel is the church of St. George from the 13th century, built on the foundations of a Roman villae rusticae from the 2nd century. Three defensive towers at the foot of Biokovo from the 18th century have also been preserved, which served as defense against the Turks. These are the towers of Bušelić, Šarić and Lalić. The patron saint of the town is St. Anthony, with whom the season and the Tučepi Summer Evenings begin every year on June 13. There are also the churches of St. Michael, St. Kate, Our Lady of the Assumption, St. Roch, the church house, the Tupska house, the summer houses of Kačić, Ivanišević and Grubišić, and the architectural and landscape complex of the Jadran Hotel.

BEACHES

Tučepi is known for the longest pebble and sand beach on the Makarska Riviera, 3 kilometers long. A beautiful avenue of pine trees stretches along it.

OTHER CONTENT

An integral part of the tourist offer are entertainment and cultural programs. Tučepi's summer evenings include fishermen's evenings, concerts, performances by klapa and folklore groups, plays and a rich gastronomic offer in the restaurants Alga and Afrodita.
