Visitors should not expect a wide, well-maintained beach or many tourist facilities. Gornja Krušica is more suited for those who prefer smaller island bathing spots, clear waters, and a quieter atmosphere without loud music and large groups of bathers.

Beach Surface and Sea Entry

The main part of the beach consists of pebbles, stones, and rocks. Along the edges of the cove, there are rocks, smaller concrete sections, and piers primarily used by residents and guests of nearby houses.

The easiest entry into the sea is from the central pebbly area. The depth gradually increases near the shore, while it deepens further into the cove.

Water shoes may be useful due to the stones, slippery rocks, and potential sea urchins. Caution is advised regarding ropes and boat moorings that can be found in certain areas of the water.

The water is generally very clear, especially when there are no strong winds or waves. The beach is suitable for swimming and snorkeling, and along the rocky sides of the cove, one can see the natural rocky bottom and small fish.

How to Reach Gornja Krušica Beach

The cove can be accessed from the direction of Gornje Selo and Stomorska. Local sources indicate a walking path from Gornje Selo, while the road access comes from the direction of Stomorska.

The access road is narrow and winding, and in some sections, two wider vehicles may have difficulty passing each other. It is advisable to drive slowly and use pullouts along the road.

Do not attempt to drive a larger van, camper, or vehicle with a trailer without checking the passage and turning options in advance.

From Gornje Selo, it is also possible to walk. The route to the sea is mostly downhill, but the return involves an uphill climb. In summer, it is best to start early in the morning or later in the afternoon as there is insufficient shade along the entire route.

Parking

There is no large, organized public parking area near the beach. Space among the houses is limited, and many parking spots belong to private properties and their guests.

Day visitors should not expect to always find a free spot right next to the beach. Sometimes, it may be necessary to park further away and walk the last part.

Do not park in front of house entrances, at turning points, along boat access paths, or in narrow sections of the road. The passage must remain clear for local residents and emergency vehicles.

Beach with Children

The pebbly entry and calm sea may be suitable for families with children, especially if they are staying in Gornja Krušica.

However, there are no lifeguards, enclosed shallow areas, playgrounds, or restrooms at the beach. Boats, piers, and moorings are located along the shore, so children should be supervised at all times.

Strollers are not practical on all access paths due to narrow passages, steps, and uneven surfaces. The beach is not particularly accessible for individuals using wheelchairs.

Wind and Best Swimming Times

Gornja Krušica is located on the northeastern side of Šolta. When the bora or stronger winds from the north blow, waves may enter the cove, making the beach experience less pleasant.

Before visiting, it is advisable to check the wind direction, not just the air temperature. When the weather is stable, the sea is usually calmest early in the morning.

June and September are pleasant due to fewer bathers and easier parking. In July and August, it is advisable to arrive early as the beach is small and available space fills up quickly.

For a stay at the beach, it is recommended to bring water, a light meal, an umbrella, sun protection, water shoes, and a snorkeling mask.

Since this is not a large, regularly maintained city beach, all waste should be taken back with you.

It is most favored by people staying in the cove itself, as they can walk to the beach without searching for parking or carrying many items. For day visitors, getting there requires more planning, but when the sea is calm, Gornja Krušica offers a very pleasant and unobtrusive island bathing experience.
