Konoba Mareta in Nečujam – Local Cuisine and Dinner by the Sea on the Western Side of the Bay

Konoba Mareta is located at Strma 9, on the western side of the large Nečujam bay. It is not situated near the main beach and central apartment complex, but rather in a quieter coastal area towards Podkamenica. It is approximately a kilometer walk from Nečujam Beach and Phil’s Beach Bar, depending on the chosen street, which takes about 15 minutes to reach the konoba. The terrace is elevated a few meters above the sea and faces the bay, providing a wide view of Nečujam, the surrounding coast, and the sunset during dinner.

Mareta can be accessed by car, scooter, on foot, or by boat. The road access is paved, but the last part leads through narrower and occasionally steeper streets in the settlement. Drivers visiting for the first time should proceed slowly, as passing may not be easy everywhere. There is no large public parking lot next to the konoba; instead, limited space is available near the establishment and along the access road. During the peak season, it is advisable to arrive a bit earlier and ensure that vehicles do not block the road or entrances to nearby houses.

Mareta is a family-run konoba focused on Dalmatian and Mediterranean cuisine. The menu prominently features fresh fish, seafood, and grilled dishes, with meat dishes and peka available depending on availability, which should be arranged in advance. The menu may include fish pâté, soups, carpaccio, pasta with shrimp, squid, fish steaks, and whole fish for multiple persons. Since supplies on the island and daily catches may vary, not every dish is available every day. When ordering whole fish, it is useful to check the weight and total price in advance.

Boat visitors also frequent the konoba. Nearby, moorings are available, and a dinghy is used to reach the shore from the boat. The number of available berths and usage conditions may change, so it is best to confirm them directly with the restaurant before arrival. Table reservations are recommended for guests arriving by land, especially for dinner in July and August when the most sought-after tables with a sea view are in high demand.

Mareta operates seasonally, and it should not be assumed that it operates on the same schedule throughout the year. During certain periods, it may open only in the later afternoon, so it is advisable to check the current working hours before departure.

Konoba Mareta is suitable for guests who wish to dine outside the busiest part of Nečujam, enjoying locally prepared fish and a view across the entire bay. The main advantages are its location just above the sea, a quieter terrace, and the option to arrive by boat, while those arriving by car should consider the narrower road and limited parking.
