Kašjun Beach in Rogač – A Small Natural Cove for Those Who Enjoy Peace and Walking Along the Sea
Kašjun is one of those beaches in Rogač that is not visited by chance. It is located northwest of the ferry port, away from houses, cars, and the main bathing areas, making it generally quieter here even in the middle of summer compared to Banja or the port itself. From the ferry terminal, it takes approximately twenty minutes to walk, depending on the pace and the exact starting point.
The path to Kašjun leads along the western side of Rogač, through a quieter part of the settlement and further towards the coast. Most of the route is not demanding, but the final approach is not a standard paved walkway. In some places, the ground is uneven, so sneakers or sturdier sandals are more practical than flip-flops, especially if carrying a cooler, umbrella, or multiple items for the beach.
You can reach a wider area above the cove by car, but do not expect parking right by the pebbles. Vehicles should be left earlier, in available widenings or along the access road, and the last part must be covered on foot. There is no large designated parking area specifically for bathers. During the summer, be careful not to leave the car in a narrow part of the road or in spaces used by nearby houses and local residents.
The beach itself is not large. In the middle, there is a shorter pebbly section, while natural rocks and stone slabs continue on the sides. When several families or larger groups arrive, the most practical part of the shore fills up quickly. Those who want more options for towels and shade should arrive early in the morning.
The easiest entry into the sea is over the pebbly part. In the shallows, there are stones and rocks, and the depth increases somewhat faster than at Banja Beach. Water shoes can be beneficial for children and anyone who finds walking on uneven surfaces uncomfortable. The edges of the cove are interesting for snorkeling as the area alternates between rocks, seagrass, and smaller underwater shelters.
Kašjun is more open to the sea than beaches located deep in the Rogač harbor. When the weather is calm, the water is clear and pleasant for swimming, but stronger northern winds can create waves. At such times, the cove is not as sheltered as Banja or Luka Rogač.
Behind the beach, pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation grow, providing some natural shade along the back edge. However, the shade does not cover the entire pebbly area nor does it last consistently throughout the day. The best spots under the trees are quickly occupied, so it is advisable to bring your own umbrella for a longer stay.
There are no beach bars, restaurants, shops, or organized sunbed rentals at Kašjun. There are also no public restrooms, showers, or changing cabins. Water, food, and all other necessities should be brought from Rogač. This is particularly important as forgetting a water bottle or towel means you will not quickly return to the port.
In some secluded rocky areas, naturists occasionally swim. Kašjun is not an officially designated naturist beach, and the central pebbly area is used by all bathers. Naturist swimming is more associated with the more distant rocks and quieter parts of the shore, so the entire beach should not be considered exclusively nudist.
Kašjun will be most suitable for those who do not mind a twenty-minute walk and do not require a café, sunbeds, or a large number of amenities at the beach. People come here for the small natural cove, clean water, and fewer crowds. The main limitations are the small space, lack of facilities, and the fact that everything needed must be carried on foot.
