BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Trogir is a city in Split-Dalmatia County. It consists of 8 settlements. It is located 25 kilometers from Split, in the northwestern part of the Kaštela Bay. The city has a very favorable location near the largest Dalmatian center, and right next to it is the largest airport in the entire Adriatic part of Croatia - Resnik. The city itself is located in the Trogir Channel, one part on the coast, and the other on the island of Čiovo, which are connected by a bridge. According to the last census, Trogir has 13,192 inhabitants. Trogir can be reached by the state road D8 or the A1 motorway to Dugopolje, which connects again to the D8.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

The city of Trogir was founded by Greek colonists from the island of Vis in the 3rd century BC. It is considered the best preserved Romanesque-Gothic city in Central Europe. The core of the city consists of a castle and a tower surrounded by walls. The most important monument is the Trogir Cathedral, whose western gate portal was made by Master Radovan. The city abounds in cultural and historical sights and is best visited with a professional guide. Also worth visiting are the Ćipiko Palace, the City Museum, the Rector's Palace, the Church of St. Sebastian, the Benedictine Monastery of St. Nicholas, the city walls, the northern and southern gates, Kamerlengo Castle and the Tower of St. Mark.

BEACHES

The surroundings of Trogir are full of beaches, especially Čiovo. You just need to relax in the shade of pine trees and enjoy the sound of the sea on the pebble beaches: Marinova Draga, Pantan, Okrug, Kava in Slatine, Medena in Seget, Mavarštica, Duga, Sveti Križ and numerous other isolated and rocky ones on the south side of Čiovo.

Activities offered are paintball, rafting and zip line on Cetina, quad adventure and safari drive trips to Kozjak, hiking, climbing, boat and jet ski rental, beach volleyball, tennis, mini golf, sailing, cycling, diving, antics at sea on bananas and tubes.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES

Local agencies organize day trips to nearby islands, rafting and canyoning on the Cetina River, zip lines, to the Krka and Plitvice Lakes national parks, Biokovo nature park, sightseeing in Split, Solin, Međugorje and Dubrovnik.
