BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Nin is a town in Zadar County, located on the Adriatic Sea coast, 15 km northwest of Zadar. The city center is an island, 500 m in diameter, connected to the mainland by two bridges. The island was created on a sandbar where the Miljašić Jaruga river once flowed into the sea. Nin is spread over several zones: the historic island, the weekend village of Ždrijelac, the new part of Nin, Bilotinjak and Ninske Vodice. According to the last census, it has a population of 4,600. It is well connected to the rest of Dalmatia by the state road D8 and to Croatia by the A1 motorway. The nearest airport is Zemunik in Zadar.
CULTURE, HISTORY and ATTRACTIONS
The city of Nin is 3000 years old and is one of the oldest cities on the eastern Adriatic coast. It was founded by the Liburnians in the 9th century BC. From the 7th to the 10th century, Nin was ruled and resided by Croatian kings and bishops. In the area of the Zaton campsite there was the ancient port of old Nin, then Aenone, whose remains from the 1st century are still visible in the sea today. Nin is the cradle of the Croatian state, and today it is a modern tourist and cultural destination. The town still has the remains of an ancient temple, Roman buildings and statues of Roman emperors. It is also known as a health resort due to the largest quantities of medicinal mud on the Adriatic. If you are in Nin, you must definitely visit their natural salt pan and the Museum of Nin Antiquities.
BEACHES
The beaches of Nin are its trademark and are considered among the most beautiful in Croatia. Their total length is as much as 8 km. The most famous is the sandy Queen's Beach, 3 km long. According to the Travel Channel, it is among the most beautiful in the world. The beaches of Ždrijelac, Prodorica, Bilotnjak and Zaton Holiday Resort in the tourist resort of the same name are also attractive. Due to their shallow waters, Nin's beaches are most attractive to families with children.

The gastronomic offer is extremely diverse, and the largest number of charming Dalmatian taverns offer delicious delicacies of this region. We will name a few: Bepo, Dalmacija, Dva mornara, Tomislav, Gradela, Stara kužina… Visit the restaurants Aenona and Jaz and the pizzeria Peperoni. During the summer season, numerous events are organized such as folk festivals, the Nin Chocolate Festival, the Sun and Light Festival in the Church of St. Cross, the Klapa Festival, concerts and numerous performances.
SPORT
A holiday in Nin is an ideal opportunity for a variety of activities. There are as many as 110 km of cycling trails in the surrounding area. The resort has tennis courts, volleyball courts, five-a-side football, bowling, table tennis, mini golf. Diving, windsurfing, parasailing and other schools are organised. The Niska lagoon is suitable for windsurfing and hang gliding. The equestrian club organises horse riding for children and adults, as well as therapeutic riding.
