Bobovišća na Moru – a safe haven for sailors on the western coast of Brač

Bobovišća na Moru is one of the most well-known natural anchorages on the island of Brač and a popular stop for many sailors navigating the central Dalmatian islands. Nestled in a deeply carved and well-protected bay on the island's western coast, Bobovišća offers a secure refuge from most winds and a pleasant atmosphere typical of small Dalmatian towns.

The entrance to the bay is wide and easily identifiable, with navigation towards the interior taking place through a tranquil sea passage flanked by pine forests and traditional stone houses. Thanks to the natural configuration of the coastline, the bay provides very good anchoring conditions for most of the year and is regarded as one of the safest anchorages in the western part of Brač.

Sailors have access to berths along the quay and an organised anchorage with buoys. The port area of Bobovišća features approximately 20 berths for vessels up to around 15 metres in length, while the organised anchorage offers 32 buoys suitable for boats up to approximately 25 metres long. The depths in the bay are suitable for most recreational vessels, with a maximum draft of about 3 metres in the port area. In total, more than 50 berthing spots and buoys make Bobovišća one of the more significant nautical destinations on Brač.

A particular advantage of the anchorage is its proximity to all amenities. After mooring, it is possible to reach restaurants, taverns, and cafés along the quay within a few minutes on foot. Among the most notable dining establishments are Konoba Kogula and Konoba Vala, which have long been favourites among sailors for their fresh fish, traditional Dalmatian dishes, and pleasant seaside atmosphere.

Bobovišća is known for its tranquil and authentic island ambience. Unlike larger marinas, the traditional appearance of the Dalmatian village has been preserved here, which is why many skippers choose to spend the night in this bay. An evening stroll along the quay, the view of anchored sailboats, and the relaxed atmosphere are some of the reasons many guests return regularly.

Nearby, there are also attractive coves such as Vičja Luka, Studena, Kogula, and Krušica, making Bobovišća an excellent base for exploring the western coast of Brač. The crystal-clear sea, natural landscape, and good protection further enhance the appeal of this anchorage.

During July and August, the demand for buoys and berths is very high, so early arrival or prior reservation is recommended when possible. Current prices for buoy usage, berths, and other services are best checked on the official website of the anchorage manager before arrival, as they may vary from season to season.

Thanks to its safe shelter, good infrastructure, more than 50 berthing spots, and excellent gastronomic offerings, the Bobovišća na Moru anchorage is one of the most popular nautical destinations on the island of Brač and an essential stop for sailors and motorboat owners exploring the Dalmatian islands.
