Kotlina Beach Bol | Hidden Pebble Cove by the Dominican Monastery

Kotlina Beach is one of the most beautiful and tranquil urban beaches in Bol. Located on the eastern side of the town, right next to the Dominican Monastery, it is about a ten-minute leisurely walk from the Bol waterfront. With its crystal clear waters, natural shade from pine trees, and a calmer atmosphere compared to the beaches in the town centre, Kotlina is popular among families, couples, and visitors looking to enjoy a more relaxed part of the Bol coastline.

The beach features a mix of fine pebbles, larger stones, and natural stone slabs, with a gentle entry into the sea suitable for most swimmers. The water is exceptionally clear, displaying characteristic turquoise hues, and due to the rocky seabed and good visibility, Kotlina is also popular among snorkelling enthusiasts. The sheltered position of the cove ensures calmer waters for much of the summer.

One of the beach's greatest advantages is its natural setting. The dense pine forest and several tamarisks provide shade for most of the day, making Kotlina a pleasant spot for a full day’s stay even during the hottest summer months. In comparison to Zlatni Rat beach, the atmosphere here is significantly quieter, free from large crowds and the intense traffic of day-trippers.

On the beach itself, you will find Ribarska Kućica, a restaurant renowned for its fresh Adriatic fish, seafood, and traditional Dalmatian dishes. Thanks to its location right by the sea, it is possible to combine swimming and lunch without leaving the beach, which is one of Kotlina's unique features. A few minutes' walk away, there are additional restaurants, cafés, and shops in the centre of Bol.

The beach has retained its natural appearance, so there are not many commercial facilities. There are no large complexes of sun loungers or loud beach bars, which further contributes to the peaceful atmosphere. For this reason, Kotlina is often chosen by guests seeking a more authentic experience of the Dalmatian coast.

Just above the beach is the 15th-century Dominican Monastery, which houses a valuable collection of artworks and archaeological finds. Many visitors explore the monastery and its museum after swimming or continue their walk along the coastal promenade towards the eastern coves and Grabov Rat beach. The combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage makes this part of Bol one of the most interesting to explore.

Kotlina Beach is easily accessible on foot via the well-maintained coastal path from the centre of Bol. By car, you can reach a public parking area near the Dominican Monastery, from where it is just a few minutes' walk to the beach. Due to the limited number of parking spaces during July and August, it is advisable to arrive in the morning or to walk.

If you are looking for a quiet pebble beach with crystal clear waters, natural shade, and an excellent restaurant right by the shore, Kotlina Beach is one of the best choices in Bol. Its proximity to the Dominican Monastery, relaxed atmosphere, and beautiful views of the Brač Channel make it a hidden gem on the eastern coast of the town.
