Lovrečina Beach – the most renowned sandy beach on the island of Brač

Lovrečina Beach is located on the eastern side of Brač, nestled between Postira and Pučišća, and is one of the most well-known natural sandy beaches in Dalmatia. Set in a wide, shallow cove surrounded by pine forests and Mediterranean vegetation, Lovrečina is perfect for families with children, as well as for anyone seeking a long, relaxing day by the sea.

What sets Lovrečina apart from most beaches on Brač is the soft sand both on the shore and in the water, which is a rarity on an island known for its rocky and pebbly beaches. The entry into the sea is very gentle and gradual, with the shallows extending for dozens of metres from the shore, making the beach particularly suitable for small children and non-swimmers. The water is exceptionally clear and, due to its shallowness, often takes on turquoise and light blue hues.

The beach is surrounded by dense pines that provide natural shade during the summer months, creating a pleasant environment for a full day’s stay. Basic hospitality facilities, including a beach bar and restaurant, are located right by the beach, allowing visitors to easily find a drink, coffee, or a light meal without leaving the cove.

Lovrečina is also known as one of the favourite spots for playing picigin on Brač. Thanks to the long shallows and soft sand, the conditions are ideal for this traditional Dalmatian game, which adds to the relaxed, summery atmosphere and makes a day at the beach even more enjoyable. Naturally, it is also suitable for other ball games in the water.

In addition to its natural beauty, Lovrečina holds significant historical value. Nearby are the remains of an early Christian basilica and baptistery from the 5th and 6th centuries, which adds a cultural dimension to the beach and makes it a unique blend of nature and history on Brač.

The beach is accessible by car, with a nearby car park that fills up quickly during the summer months, so an early arrival is recommended. It is also possible to reach the beach by bicycle or on foot from Postira, for those who enjoy longer walks along the coast.

Lovrečina is particularly beautiful in the morning and evening when the sea is calm, and the light highlights its turquoise tones. During the day, it can be livelier, but due to the large area of the beach, it rarely feels overcrowded.

If you are looking for a rare sandy beach on Brač with shallow waters, natural shade, picigin, and cultural heritage, Lovrečina is one of the most special places well worth a visit.
