Zora Beach / Baywatch – A Family Favourite Just West of Sumartin

Imagine a sun-drenched day spent at Zora Beach, affectionately dubbed Baywatch by locals and visitors alike. Nestled about a kilometre west of Sumartin's bustling centre, this beach is a gem that beckons families and sun-seekers with its inviting atmosphere.

The beach itself is a delightful mix of fine pebbles and smooth rocky patches, perfect for lounging under the sun. The water is a stunning shade of turquoise, especially on calm days, making it an ideal spot for a refreshing dip. Thanks to its open position facing the Brač Channel, you might find a few more waves here than at the main beach in Sumartin, which some beachgoers absolutely adore.

Getting to Zora Beach is a breeze. You can stroll from the centre of Sumartin in about 15 minutes, or if you prefer, hop in your car, ride a bike, or even take a scooter along the scenic coastal road towards Puntinka.

One of the beach's standout features is the free parking available just 200 to 300 metres away, a real bonus during the busy summer months when parking can be a challenge in the town centre.

During the peak season, Zora Beach comes alive with amenities that cater to families:

  • A beach bar and drinks kiosk for refreshments,
  • Public showers to rinse off after a swim,
  • A fun-filled aqua park for the kids,
  • Shady spots under pine trees for those seeking a break from the sun.

This beach is particularly well-suited for families, thanks to its gentle entry into the water and the soft pebbles underfoot. The breathtaking views of Biokovo and the Makarska Riviera add to the charm, making it a picturesque backdrop for your day out. If you need a bit of shade, the small pine forest above the beach provides a lovely retreat during the hottest parts of the day.

While Zora Beach doesn’t boast a lively lounge or party scene, it attracts visitors looking for:

  • A full day of swimming,
  • Easy access by car,
  • A family-friendly environment,
  • Cleaner waters and more space compared to the town's waterfront.

Although it can get a bit crowded during peak season due to the aqua park and nearby parking, Zora Beach remains one of the most practical spots for a long, leisurely day by the sea in Sumartin.
