BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Kukljica is a municipality in Croatia, whose only settlement also bears the name Kukljica. It is located on the far southeast of the island of Ugljan, which is connected to the neighboring island of Pašman. The two islands in the Ždrelac Strait are connected by a bridge of the same name. In addition to the settlement itself, the municipality of Kukljica also includes four islets: Bisage, Golac, Mišnjak and Karantunić. On the north side, the municipality of Kukljica is bordered by the sea of the Zadar Channel, which separates it from the 5 km distant Sukošan (9.5 km from the city of Zadar), and on the south by the sea of the Middle Channel, which separates it from the 5 km distant southeastern coast of the island of Iž. It is connected to other settlements on the island by a regional road, and the nearest airport is Zemunik in Zadar.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Based on the numerous remains of material culture found, it is known that the Kukljica area was inhabited since the Neolithic (Neolithic stone knives), through the Illyrians and Romans (finding of a tegu from the 1st century, remains of a cistern, salt production) until the arrival of the Croats. More significant buildings, unfortunately damaged, are the castle (summer residence) of the Nassi family from 1623, and the remains of an unknown building in Ortula's Palace. The Old Croatian Church of St. Jerome, in its current Romanesque form, was built in the 13th century, and the Baroque Parish Church of St. Paul was built on the foundations of an older church in the 17th century.
BEACHES
Sabuša Beach is located on the west coast of the island. It is concreted, and the sea is sandy and shallow, making it suitable for families with small children. Jelenica is a naturist beach, located near the Sabuša Bay. It is surrounded by numerous olive trees. Kostanj Beach is located north of Kukljica. It is sandy and surrounded by a dense pine forest. The bay is suitable for anchoring smaller boats. Holiday Park Zelena Punta Beach is located within the apartment complex of the same name.
OTHER CONTENT
The taverns Kod barba Tome, Udica and Stari mlin and the restaurants Punta and Hajduk offer traditional and other Mediterranean specialties. Among the more significant cultural events are: fishermen's festivals, the "Gospe od Sniga" festival, art photography exhibitions by domestic and foreign artists, the Chakavian Poetry Evening - a poetry evening of Kukljica poets and their guests, performances by cultural and folklore groups in the open air.
SPORT
The exceptionally mild climate allows all lovers of active holidays, athletes and recreational sports enthusiasts to practice sports throughout the year: tennis, diving, cycling, boat rental and sport fishing. The Lungomare paths are intended for the widest range of walkers, following the coast through a centuries-old pine forest.

Numerous hidden coves offer unlimited possibilities for one-day boat trips, which can take you to nearby islets, such as Mišnjak, but also to the neighboring islands of the Zadar archipelago, Iž, Sestrunj, Rivanj and Dugi otok.
