BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Sutomišćica is a small tourist resort and port on the eastern coast of the island of Ugljan. The resort was founded in a beautiful bay of the same name, 2 km from the ferry port in Preko, and is located between Poljana and Lukoran. Southwest of the resort is the Vela Glava hill (238 m), from which there is an exceptionally beautiful view of the Zadar archipelago and Ravne Kotari. It is on the regional road that runs along the island. Sutomišćica offers safe anchorage to sailors and has berths in the youngest marina in Zadar County.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

In Sutomišćica there is a famous Baroque summer house of the Lantana family from Zadar, from 1686. The summer house with a spacious park and chapel is an example of a Baroque Venetian-style castle. The transfer of duties of the Italian governors for Dalmatia and Albania took place there. The parish church dedicated to St. Euphemia is mentioned in 1349; the current Baroque church was built in 1679. On the altar of St. Jerome there is a Baroque painting by an unknown Venetian master.

BEACHES

There is a small beach in the village, pebble and sandy, with benches for resting and pine trees in the background. The beach has enough shade, and if you are looking for refreshment there is a bar on the beach. The sea by the beach is shallow and suitable for children and weaker swimmers. The second beach is rocky, called Skočac.

OTHER CONTENT

The restaurant offer is not extensive. The only two restaurants are Olive Garden and Olive Island in the Sutomiščica marina, but they are worth a visit. Excellent food and service, and friendly staff are the reason for that. Sutomiške munješćine is the main summer concert event. There is also a five-a-side football tournament in July that always ends with a good concert.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES

The natural beauty of the Kornati National Park and the Telašćica Nature Park near the island will make your vacation unforgettable. Daily multi-day ferry lines with Zadar from Preko open up numerous other possibilities. Zadar itself is rich in cultural and historical heritage, and nearby are Nin, Šibenik, the Northern Velebit, Plitvice Lakes and Paklenica national parks, and the Velebit and Vrana Lake nature parks.

Sutomišćica is a small town perfect for a quiet family vacation. Accommodation is private (apartments and holiday homes). There is also a marina of the same name in Sutomišćica with about two hundred berths available, and there are numerous campsites in the surrounding area.
