Templuž Beach FKK in Komiža

As you continue from Kamenice towards the quieter part of the southern coast of Komiža Bay, the town beaches quickly fade from view. Templuž is a hidden pebble cove nestled beneath steep cliffs and greenery, known as one of the secluded FKK beaches in Komiža. It cannot be reached by car or a well-maintained path, so it primarily attracts bathers seeking tranquillity who do not mind a more demanding approach.

The most pleasant way to reach it is by a small boat from Komiža. It is possible to walk there via Kamenice and Novo Pošta beach, but the final stretch involves navigating along rocks and through shallow water. Therefore, Templuž is not a destination for flip-flops, heavy gear, or without checking the sea conditions first.

A Small Cove Sheltered by Rocks

Templuž is a natural pebble beach surrounded by high cliffs, rocks, and Mediterranean vegetation. There is not as much space as at Gusarica or Kamenice, but its more enclosed position provides a sense of privacy that appeals to naturists.

The easiest spot to settle is in the central part of the cove. The pebbles vary in size, and at the edges of the beach, they transition into stones and rocks. A thicker mat is advisable for a longer stay, while carrying a large amount of equipment is impractical due to the access route.

Entering the water is simplest over the pebbles. The seabed is natural and uneven in places, so care should be taken with larger stones underfoot. Water shoes are not essential for everyone, but they can be helpful when entering along the edges and crossing the final coastal section.

The Water is Occasionally Cooler

On calm days, the water is very clear, and the rocky areas of the beach are interesting for snorkelling. There is a freshwater spring nearby, which can create cooler layers along the shore. In the height of summer, this is a pleasant refreshment, but bathers expecting the same warm water as at more open beaches may be surprised.

However, one should not rely on the spring as a source of drinking water. It is advisable to bring enough water from Komiža for a stay at Templuž, as there are no facilities on the beach where anything can be purchased.

An FKK Beach Where Consideration is Expected

Templuž is designated as a naturist, or FKK beach. Its seclusion and shelter make it one of the more suitable places for naturist bathing near Komiža.

If visiting for the first time, it is important to respect the peace and privacy of other visitors. Taking photographs or filming people on such a beach is inappropriate, and loud music and occupying a large part of the small cove do not fit the character of the place.

How to Get There on Foot

From the centre of Komiža, head south along Lučica, Vartalac, and Kamenice. After Kamenice, you continue towards Novo Pošta beach, but there is no established coastal path leading all the way to the cove.

The final approach runs along the shore. In some places, you need to cross over rocks or walk through shallow water, so the actual difficulty of getting there depends on the waves and sea level. When the sea is completely calm, the passage is significantly easier. After a south wind or with waves, the wet rocks become slippery, and it is not advisable to force the way forward.

From the centre of Komiža, expect to take about twenty to thirty minutes, but the last part is traversed more slowly than a regular walk. Sturdy sandals or lightweight sports shoes are the best choice, while flip-flops can easily slip off and fall off when crossing the water.

It is advisable to start the return journey before dark. The coastal path is not lit, and areas that are easily visible during the day become tricky for safe footing at night.

Arriving by Boat

By taxi boat or a smaller rented vessel, Templuž can be reached in just a few minutes from the Komiža harbour. This is a more practical way to arrive if you wish to stay for several hours, bring more water, or avoid crossing over rocks.

There is no jetty or established landing point by the beach. Disembarkation occurs on the pebbly area or through shallow water, depending on the vessel and waves. Transport and return times should be arranged in advance, as there is no regular boat service to the beach.

Arriving by kayak is also possible in calm weather. Before setting off, it is wise to check the wind, as a gentle morning departure can turn into a strenuous return if waves pick up during the day.

Shade is Not Guaranteed All Day

Vegetation reaches close to the shore, and part of the beach receives natural shade during the day. However, the shade moves and does not cover the entire cove, so for a prolonged stay, one should not rely solely on trees.

In the open areas, the sun is strong, and securing a sunshade in larger pebbles is not always straightforward. A hat, lightweight clothing, and good sun protection are more practical. Arriving earlier brings a more pleasant temperature, calmer waters, and a greater choice of spots along the back edge of the beach.

No Facilities or Quick Access to Shops

There are no tourist facilities at the location. There is no beach bar, shop, toilet, shower, changing cabin, or rental of sun loungers and umbrellas.

Water, food, and everything else must be brought from Komiža. The nearest facilities are at Kamenice and in the town, but returning to them requires crossing the coastal path again. Therefore, it is better to bring more water than to interrupt your stay for what is left in the apartment.

There is no organised waste disposal on the beach. Everything brought must be taken back with you.

Who is Templuž Suitable For?

Templuž is most suitable for naturists, couples, and more confident swimmers who want a quiet cove without tourist offerings. It is also a good choice for those who are already familiar with the coast beyond Kamenice and wish to find a more secluded spot for a few hours of swimming.

The walking access is not suitable for small children, pushchairs, individuals with limited mobility, or visitors who are unsure on wet rocks. Arriving by boat can ease access, but even then, one must disembark directly onto the natural shore.

Templuž is worth visiting when the sea is calm and when you desire exactly what this beach offers: a small pebble cove, natural privacy, and swimming away from the rhythm of urban beaches. When waves arise or the coastal path is slippery, it is better to postpone your visit for another day.
