Restaurant and Caffe Bar Milna Vis – Lunch and Drinks by the Sea
Restaurant and Caffe Bar Milna is situated by the sea in the small settlement of Milna on the southeast side of Vis, very close to the main sandy beach. It is one of the more convenient spots in Milna as it is not solely designed as a dinner restaurant – you can stop by in the morning for coffee, during the day for a cold drink or lunch after swimming, and in the evening for dinner.
The atmosphere is relaxed and perfectly suits Milna. There is no bustling city waterfront or large crowds, and the terrace overlooks the bay and the sea. This is particularly beneficial for guests staying in Milna, as there is no need to drive to the town of Vis for coffee, breakfast, or lunch.
From Morning Coffee to Dinner
The main difference compared to traditional taverns in this part of the island is that Restaurant and Caffe Bar Milna operates for most of the day.
In the morning, it’s good for coffee and something for breakfast, around noon for a simple lunch, while in the afternoon, many stop by just for a drink after swimming. In the evening, the terrace becomes a quieter place for dinner with a view of the sea.
This makes it particularly practical if you spend the whole day in Milna. There’s no need to plan a substantial lunch in advance – you can come straight from the beach and see what is available that day.
What’s on the Menu?
The offerings are Mediterranean and Dalmatian, without an overly complicated menu. Fish and seafood are a natural choice in this location, so you will find grilled fish, squid, and other simple seafood dishes among the options.
There are also pasta dishes, salads, meat dishes, and simpler meals that are more suited to lunch after a day at the beach than to a long formal dinner.
If you’re looking for fish, it’s always best to ask what is available and fresh that day. In a small seasonal restaurant on the island, this is more useful than deciding in advance that you must order a specific type.
For families or groups where not everyone wants to eat fish, this is a practical choice precisely because the menu is not limited to seafood.
Seaside Terrace
One of the main reasons to visit is the outdoor terrace overlooking Milna Bay.
During warm days, it’s particularly pleasant to sit in the covered or shaded area, take a break from the sun, and return to the sea after lunch.
Milna is a small place, and there isn’t a constant flow of people like there is at the waterfront in the town of Vis. This creates a calmer atmosphere, especially in the morning and later in the afternoon.
In the evening, it’s nice to stay for a drink after dinner as the whole bay quietens down when most of the day’s swimmers have left.
Just a Short Walk from Milna Beach
Milna Beach is very close to the restaurant, so there’s no need to move the car between swimming and lunch.
This is particularly convenient for families with children. Milna has a sandy bottom and a very long shallow area, so you can easily spend several hours at the beach. When it gets too hot, you can take a break on the terrace, have something to eat, and then head back for a swim.
If you wish to visit Zaglav Beach, the walking path to it also starts from the Milna area. This way, without much organisation, you can connect two sandy beaches and lunch in the same part of the island.
Parking and Arrival by Car
It takes about ten minutes to drive from the town of Vis to Milna.
Parking is available in the area of the restaurant and tourist resort, so there’s no need to leave the car far away and then walk a long distance to arrive for lunch or dinner.
However, Milna is a small settlement, and one should not expect a large city car park. During July and August, the same space is used by guests of nearby accommodations and people coming to the beach, so it can be a bit busier during the day.
For guests already staying in Milna, a car is generally not necessary as the restaurant can be reached on foot from most of the settlement.
A Good Choice for a Simple Lunch After the Beach
Restaurant and Caffe Bar Milna is not a place I would primarily choose for a long gastronomic dinner that requires a drive from the other side of Vis. Its greatest advantage is practicality and location.
If you are staying in Milna, swimming at the nearby beach, or passing through this part of the island, it is a good spot for coffee, lunch, a cold drink, or a simple dinner by the sea.
It is particularly useful for families who spend the whole day at the beach, as they can have a proper meal without having to return to the town.
Milna does not have a large number of dining establishments, so this restaurant plays an important role in the area – a caffe bar during the day and a simple restaurant by the sea when something more substantial is desired.
