The sanctuary of Our Lady of Mercy is located at the exit from Pula towards Labin. It is considered the most famous shrine of southern Istria. The first sacral building at the site was probably built between the 5th and 8th centuries, but that is uncertain. In the Middle Ages, the Church of Our Lady of Grace was erected, first mentioned in 1470, and was demolished in the mid-19th century. The present-day church was built in 1885, and until the Second World War it was very popular with the population.
