Nikola Hosta Park is one of the oldest parks in Rijeka. It was created in the 19th century as a botanical garden by the Villa Androch, at a time when it was owned by Archduke Joseph, a great lover and connoisseur of garden art.Situated on rocky terrain and on several levels, the sculpture, fountains and exotic plants, acquired by Archduke from different parts of the world, made the park look like English gardens, which over time has been lost. The park is named after an Austrian botanist who took part in its planting, and today the National Archive is housed in the Androch Villa.
