CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Marina was first mentioned in the 13th century under the name Bosoljima. Marina was once the seat of the Drid County, the remains of which are still visible on a nearby hill. Prehistoric artifacts have been found in the cave of St. Philip and James. The settlement of Marina is dominated by a picturesque fortress, the former summer residence of the bishops of Trogir from the 16th century. The bishop of Trogir had it built to protect his estates from the Ottomans. Above Marina is the Drid hill, and along the coast is crystal clear sea and numerous pebble beaches. In addition to the Marina fortress, you can visit the parish church of St. James, the church of St. John the Baptist, St. Marina and Our Lady of the Snows on Drid. It is also worth taking a walk to the cave of St. Philip and James, the chapel and crosses in the Marina parish, the Cave of Valjalo in Najevi, the caves near Gomila, and the Old Trogir - Sevid bay is a protected archaeological site and one of the more famous sandy beaches. The first asphalt mine "Minera" under the Boraševica hill and the Villa rustica at the Jalpena gomila location are also interesting to visit.
