Josip Juraj Strossmayer Park is the central park in Split. It is also known as Đardin and is close to many other city attractions. The Strossmayer park is located north of the Diocletian's Palace, or the main entrance to it - the Golden Gate. The Djardin construction site was freed in 1808, during French authorities, . The park has remained very similar in shape to its construction to this day, but in the early 20th century it received a beautiful fountain with an angel-like figure. On the southeast corner of the park is a memorial plaque dedicated to the famous Croatian poet Tin Ujevic.
