Just next to the city walls, on Peline , is the Church of St. James Pipunar, originally St. Paul.It was first mentioned in 1225 when Dominicans came to Dubrovnik and settled in its neighborhood. The single-nave Romanesque church, with the construction of the surrounding houses, was left only with the southern façade with an arcade, a side entrance and a bell. The church also has a painting of the Virgin with a child, from an unknown painter from the 15th century.
