Dominican Monastery in Bol | Historical Monastery, Museum, and Church of Our Lady of Mercy

The Dominican Monastery in Bol is one of the most valuable cultural and historical landmarks on the island of Brač and a must-visit for those wishing to learn about the rich history, art, and spiritual heritage of Dalmatia. It is located on the Glavica peninsula, at the eastern end of the Bol promenade, right next to Martinica beach and just a few meters from the sea. Visitors can view a rich archaeological collection featuring ancient amphorae and underwater finds from the Adriatic, valuable paintings from the 15th to the 19th centuries, silver liturgical vessels, church vestments, Glagolitic books, manuscripts, old codices, a numismatic collection, and numerous votive offerings known as Our Lady's Jewelry.

The monastery is open to visitors, and it is possible to tour the church, cloister, and museum exhibition. According to currently available information, it operates daily during the season from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00. It is advisable to check the entrance fee before visiting, as it may change from season to season.

One of the greatest advantages of the Dominican Monastery is its unique location by the sea. From the area in front of the monastery, there is a beautiful view of Martinica beach, the Hvar Channel, and the island of Hvar, while the centuries-old cypress trees and the peaceful monastery courtyard create a special Mediterranean atmosphere.
