BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Okrug Gornji or Okruk Gornji, as it was originally called, is a place on the western part of the island of Čiovo, in Split-Dalmatia County. It is part of the Okrug municipality. Near Okrug, in the channel between Čiovo and Drvenik Veli, there is a series of islets, the largest of which is Sveta Fumija. Trogir is only 3 km away, Resnik Airport 8 km, and Split itself 31 km.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
There are three churches in Okrug Gornji. The Church of St. Charles Borromeo, 300 years old; the Church of St. Tudor, over 500 years old, and the newly built parish church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Trogir, which is under UNESCO protection, is in the immediate vicinity.
BEACHES
The district has a mild Mediterranean climate and lush vegetation, and when we add to that a large number of bays and beaches, we get an attractive tourist destination. Apartment development and concrete construction have reduced the number of bays and beaches. The district's Copacabana is the largest pebble beach, 2 kilometers long. The beach complex has numerous facilities such as jet ski rental, parasailing, windsurfing and a rich gastronomic offer.
OTHER CONTENT
An exceptionally rich gastronomic offer is offered in the restaurants Mali Raj, Leonardo, Labadusa, Srdela, Mala Ankora, Rarita Korniža and many others, as well as in the tavern Duga, the bistros Toć and Renata. Entertainment late into the night is offered in nearby Trogir and Split. During the summer season, fishermen's evenings, klapa festivals and numerous festivals are organized.
SPORT
A diving school offers opportunities to discover the Adriatic seabed. Okrug also has a fitness center with tennis courts, scooters can be rented, you can go paragliding, or try windsurfing.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
Daily boat trips to nearby bays are organized. Trips to the Krka National Park, Split, and Međugorje are also possible. From the Split ferry port, you can organize several daily trips to Brač, Hvar, Šolta, or Vis, and from the Trogir port, a smaller ferry runs to Drvenik Veli and Mali.
