BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Baška is a small town, port and tourist center on the southeastern coast of Krk. It lies along the Baška Bay and has about 900 inhabitants. The fastest way to get to Baška by car is after arriving on the island and crossing the Krk Bridge, as it is only 45 kilometers away. Arrival by plane is planned at Rijeka Airport, which is 44 kilometers away from Baška. Arrival by train can be made to the station in Rijeka (66 kilometers from Baška), and then you can take a bus from the bus station that goes to Baška several times a day. Baška also has its own bus station and frequent lines to various centers in Croatia. The port in Baška is, however, only open to public traffic of county significance, while the nearby port of Valbiska is used for arrivals by ferry or catamaran.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
According to local cave finds, Baška was inhabited as early as prehistoric times. Later remains of the population and settlements from the ancient era date back to the 2nd century BC. The settlement of Baška itself developed during the Middle Ages, when it was first mentioned as "castelum Besca". From the later Middle Ages until the 19th century, Baška was under the rule of the Frankopan family, the Venetian Republic and Austria. One of the most important monuments of Croatian culture was found in the Baška area. It is the Baška Tablet, a monument in the Glagolitic script estimated to have been created around 1100. The monument was found in the church of St. Lucy, which was built at the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries. The church can be visited and its interior can be viewed, and to learn about the Glagolitic tradition, it is advisable to walk the Baška Glagolitic Trail. Other religious sights in Baška are the Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Chapel of St. Marko and the Church of St. Mother of God of Grička. The Baška Local History Museum is the best place to get to know Baška through interesting exhibits that testify to the long tradition of culture in its area.
BEACHES
There are 30 pebble beaches in Baška, accessible on foot or by boat. The most famous of them is Vela plaža, located in the very center of the village. The beach has a blue flag for its clean sea, stretches for about 1800 meters and has a great selection of restaurants. Some of the beautiful beaches that should also be mentioned are the beaches in the bays of Bunculuka, Vela Luka, Mala Luka and Vela Draga.

Restaurants Burin, Cicibela, Saloon, Strand and other taverns and bistros always guarantee fresh ingredients, and you can also try some traditional Baška dishes. It is almost impossible to list all the coffee bars and cafes along the beaches when walking along the beautiful promenades. The offer of places to enjoy drinks on the terrace is truly rich, and for night entertainment or enjoyment of different musical rhythms, the Baška International Guitar Festival, Acoustic Baška Summer Nights and the popular event Dance in Nature are planned. Places for entertainment are the terrace of the Funtana bistro, AC Bunculuka Bistro & Lounge and Porto club Baška. Those who want to relax and spend their time in relaxation can visit the wellness center of the Corinthia hotel.
SPORT
The area around Baška is full of rocky paths, so hiking along established trails is one of the popular activities. For other sports activities in Baška, you can visit the Dunica surf center and the Rare Bird center for sailing or surfing, and the Baška Hotels are the place where you can rent tennis courts. All beaches in Baška have a rich offer for daily sports activities and often offer rental of various means of transportation, sports fields or sports equipment.

Boat trips to Baška are very popular and, during such cruises, you can see the island of Krk from the open sea or go sightseeing on the neighboring islands of Cres, Rab, Lošinj or Pag. The specific climatic conditions of Baška have contributed to the creation of beautiful plant life and the Baška area is the place where there are the most protected, endemic plant species in the entire Adriatic. For this reason, it is recommended to go on a trip to the nearby Baška nature, and an interesting destination is certainly the educational trail "Baška-Zarok-Batomalj-Pod Lipicu" which shows the ethnological wealth of Baška and the unique biodiversity of flora and fauna. Another destination with a similar purpose is the Bodulski vrt. In addition to plants, it is worth highlighting the diverse animal life in the Baška underwater world, which can be discovered by visiting the Baška Aquarium.

Among the pensions, Burin and Antonia stand out, and the offer of private apartments is very rich. The campsites that can be used are Camping Zablaće, Naturist Camping Bunculuka and Mali camping. The port of Bašća offers the possibility of mooring a vessel, but the nearest marina is in Punt.
