BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Petrčane is a quiet tourist resort with a small harbor on the shore of the bay of the same name in Zadar County. It is located 14 km northwest of Zadar and 2 km below the road leading from Zadar to Knin. Donje Petrčane is by the sea, on Radmanova Punta the hotel resort Pinija has developed, and on the northwest side the weekend resort Punta Skala has developed. The resort is located on the state road D8, and the nearest airport is Zadar.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

The town of Petrčane was first mentioned in 1071 in the Cartulary of the Benedictine Monastery of St. Mary in Zadar. It was first mentioned in official documents in the 10th century. According to tradition, the town has been named since Roman times after the name of the landowner, Petricius. The parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary with a low tower from the 18th century is located in the center of the town, on the central square. The fortress church, converted into a residential building in the 19th century, is popularly known as Kulina, and has the remains of wall frescoes on its walls.

BEACHES

In the village itself there are the beaches Radman and Petrčane. They are a combination of gravel and concrete. In the southern part, towards the exit from the village, there is the beach Pineta with natural pine shade. In the isolated part of the village there is the nudist beach Punta Skala, rocky with a small pebble part. Some beaches are also adapted for people with disabilities. There is also a Wibit rubber aquapak in the village.

OTHER CONTENT

Gastronomic delights can be found in the taverns Pjero, Toka, Sidro, Orka and Kraljevski vinogradi, as well as in the restaurants Liburna, Marco Polo, Pineta and Bonaca. During the summer, enjoy a peaceful holiday and the occasional fisherman's festival, while nightlife can be found in nearby Zadar.

SPORT

In addition to the inevitable sea activities, swimming, sailing, diving, you can rent a bike and explore the surroundings, go for a pleasant walk or just lie in the sun and enjoy. WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES

The proximity of Zadar and Šibenik enriches the cultural and entertainment offer. Nature lovers must visit at least one national park nearby. These are Paklenica, Krka, Kornati or Plitvice Lakes. Among the nature parks are Vrana Lake, Telašćica or Velebit. You can rent a boat and cruise the Zadar archipelago.
