Zadar Archbishop answered the needs of its believers and issued decree in 1933, establishing a new parish of the Sacred Heart. The first parish priest was Don Francesco Volpe. After the war that devastated the city of Zadar, the Vicar General gave the parish in a temporary administration to Franciscans, and the parish was permanently entrusted to them in 1964. After years of negotiations, in June 1983 was launched the reconstruction of existing buildings and construction of a new parish church.
