Banje Beach in Rogač – Pebble Beach Opposite the Ferry Port

Banje Beach is located in Rogač, on the northern side of the island of Šolta, on the western shore of Rogač Bay. It is situated almost directly opposite the ferry terminal, and access requires traveling through the inner part of the bay via road. The beach is approximately one kilometer from the ferry port, which is about a 15-minute walk.

The beach can be accessed by car, scooter, bicycle, or on foot. Access to the water is via an asphalted local road through the western part of Rogač, between houses and apartments. The final part of the road runs right by the sea, and in some places, the road is narrow, so caution is advised during the summer months. The access is not unpaved, and a four-wheel-drive vehicle is not necessary to reach it.

Parking is available in a limited number of spots along the road and in smaller widenings near the beach. Banje does not have a large organized public parking area, and during July and August, spots along the coast fill up quickly. It is advisable to arrive early in the morning or to park a bit further away in a location that does not obstruct other vehicles or access to private homes. It is also practical to walk from the center of Rogač.

Banje is a smaller pebble beach located in a sheltered part of the bay. The central part of the shore is covered with pebbles, while rocky and concrete areas are found along the edges, which are also used for sunbathing and entering the water. The water is generally calm in the shallows, and the entry is gradual over most of the beach, making it suitable for families with children. In some areas, there are larger stones on the seabed, so water shoes may be useful.

Due to its location in the bay, the sea is usually calmer than on the open beaches of Šolta. The beach is far enough from the ferry dock that swimming is not directly affected by ferry traffic, but boats, catamarans, and ferries pass through the wider part of the bay. Swimmers venturing away from the shore should pay attention to maritime traffic and vessels at anchor or moored.

There is little natural shade on the beach. Trees and Mediterranean vegetation are mainly found along the edges and behind the shore, while most of the pebble area is exposed to the sun during the day. For longer stays, it is advisable to bring your own umbrella, especially during the hottest part of the day and when visiting with children.

The offerings at the beach may vary depending on the season. Do not expect consistently available sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, changing cabins, or public restrooms. In some seasons, facilities for children and water entertainment equipment have appeared on the beach, but these are not permanent and their availability is not guaranteed.

In the immediate vicinity, there are holiday homes and apartments, while a larger selection of dining establishments, shops, and other services can be found closer to the ferry port and the central part of Rogač. Therefore, for a longer stay, it is advisable to bring water, food, and all necessary items for sun protection.

Banje Beach is most suitable for bathers seeking a quieter, sheltered part of the coast with a gradual entry into the sea and asphalt access. Advantages include proximity to Rogač, a pebble shore, and calmer waters, while the main limitations are limited natural shade, smaller space, and restricted parking options.
