Graffiti na Gradele Bol | International Festival of Street Art, Murals and Music

Graffiti na Gradele is one of the most recognised urban festivals in Croatia, and it has contributed to Bol's reputation among street art enthusiasts in recent years. Since 2012, the festival has been held in Bol on the island of Brač, attracting graffiti artists, muralists, designers, illustrators, musicians, and visitors from Croatia and various European countries each summer. What began as a small gathering of graffiti lovers has evolved into one of the most significant urban culture festivals on the Adriatic.

The heart of the daily programme is located at the Bijela kuća, a former hotel complex near Zlatni Rat, which transforms into a large open-air gallery during the festival. Over several days, artists paint the walls with new murals and graffiti works, allowing visitors to observe the entire creative process—from initial sketches to final touches. Each year brings new artworks, making every festival unique and leaving a lasting artistic imprint in Bol.

In addition to mural painting, Graffiti na Gradele offers a rich daily programme suitable for all ages. Workshops on drawing and painting, lectures, exhibitions, skateboarding and BMX events, sports competitions, artist meet-and-greets, and various educational activities for children and young people are organised. A significant portion of the daily programme is completely free and open to all visitors.

The musical aspect of the festival is as important as the visual arts programme. Evening concerts, DJ performances, and parties feature artists from Croatia and abroad. The programme primarily focuses on hip-hop, electronic music, breakbeat, funk rhythms, and other urban music genres. In recent years, evening events have taken place at the 585 Club, one of the most well-known open-air clubs on Brač.

A distinctive feature of the Graffiti na Gradele festival is its relaxed atmosphere. Rather than following a traditional festival format, the entire town of Bol becomes a meeting place for artists, musicians, skateboarders, photographers, and urban culture enthusiasts over several days. Visitors can freely converse with muralists, observe their work, participate in workshops, or simply enjoy the music and summer ambience by the sea. This blend of art, beaches, and Mediterranean atmosphere makes the festival unique in Croatia.

Each year, the festival attracts a large number of renowned local and international street artists, transforming Bol into one of the most intriguing destinations for urban culture on the Adriatic during July. Numerous murals created during previous editions of the festival still adorn various parts of the town, representing a lasting artistic legacy of Graffiti na Gradele.

The festival locations are easily accessible on foot from the centre of Bol. The Bijela kuća is located along the promenade leading to Zlatni Rat beach, while the 585 Club is just a few minutes' walk away. Public parking is available nearby, and most visitors reach the festival either on foot or via a tourist train that runs between the centre of Bol and Zlatni Rat.

If you visit Bol during the summer, Graffiti na Gradele is an event worth experiencing. The combination of outstanding murals, international artists, workshops, concerts, and a laid-back atmosphere by the sea makes this festival one of the most recognisable cultural events on the island of Brač.
