Kino Mediteran Bol | Summer Cinema Under the Stars and Year-Round Digital Cinema

Kino Mediteran Bol is one of the most beautiful cinemas on the Croatian coast and an integral part of the cultural life in Bol. Located at Ulica Vladimira Nazora 2, just a few minutes' walk from the Bol waterfront, it was the first digital cinema in the Kino Mediteran project, which has been revitalising cinema culture in smaller Dalmatian towns since 2012. During the winter, screenings take place in a modern indoor cinema hall, while in the summer, the programme moves to an attractive outdoor cinema, where visitors can watch films under the starry sky in a unique Mediterranean setting.

The Kino Mediteran project was initiated by the Festival of Mediterranean Film Split with the aim of restoring quality film programming to towns that have been without a permanent cinema for years. Bol was one of the first towns included in the project, and thanks to successful digitalisation, it now boasts modern DCP projection equipment that allows for the screening of the latest film titles in superb picture and sound quality.

During the summer season, Kino Mediteran organises outdoor screenings almost every day. The repertoire includes the latest global film hits, European and independent films, Croatian productions, and dubbed animated films for children. A notable aspect of the programme is that most foreign films are shown in their original language with Croatian and English subtitles, enabling both local residents and numerous foreign guests holidaying in Bol to enjoy the screenings together.

In addition to the regular cinema programme, Kino Mediteran hosts screenings as part of the Festival of Mediterranean Film Split (FMFS), themed film nights, and special guest events. This makes Bol one of the more significant film centres in Dalmatia during the summer, and watching a film under the open sky is a special experience that many visitors highlight as one of the most memorable moments of their holiday.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office, which opens one hour before the screening starts. The cinema is also part of the Kino Mediteran Loyalty Card programme, which allows visitors to receive discounts on tickets and collect points for rewards.

Within the cinema, there is a small bar where popcorn, soft drinks, and other refreshments can be purchased during screenings, further enhancing the experience of an evening film viewing. The cinema features comfortable seating, and due to the open-air setting and Mediterranean climate, screenings in July and August are particularly pleasant.

Kino Mediteran is just a few minutes' walk from any part of central Bol. Nearby, you will find the Bol waterfront, numerous restaurants, cafés, and shops, so many visitors begin their evening with dinner or a stroll before the film screening. Parking is available in public car parks in central Bol, from where the cinema is easily accessible on foot.
